personally, i don't get it. who is buying these bulls? it can't be the commercial cattlemen that they say is the focus of their operation. :? my hats off the them, as long as there is no monopoly money involved.

Thats an interesting comment-- because I was talking the other day with a breeder who's sale is built around selling to the ranchers- that was concerned because the last couple of years his sale average had been going up (near $4,000 two years ago- and over $4,000 last year) - and that some of his customers and former customers had commented that his bulls were getting too high priced- which made him afraid they may lose some interest in their sale- with buyers just not showing up because they thought they wouldn't be able to afford any bulls anyway...

With this SAV sale-- If you discount funny money and bull pimps- and took off the top six selling bulls- the average would still be $5749....Thats awful pricey for most commercial cattlemen....

Must be a lot of people that still prefer the bigger, better , faster type bulls.

I was talking to Cody Jorgensen the other day about the Rito 707 bull and he said the bull didn't have much of an impact in their herd but when he was used as an outcross in the Schaff herd he became the next greatest thing. Funny how genetics works. It doesn't seem to work the other way though. The majority of the bulls that Jorgensen's try to inject for an outcross in their herd don't live up to their linebred genetics from what I can see.
