scared, tired, and gotta vent.... again

Well, Ive been getting 'pushed' aroudn, verbally, cause they know i can pop 'em a good one, I just don't like to. Ive been bugged about my size my whole life, but now this is rediculous. Im being looked down upon for being country, and as much as it angers me, there is nothing I can do anymore. Last time i told mom and Dad, they flipped out, told EVERYONE and made a bugger mess of it. You guys, and my girl are the only people that know this now, and it's mostly cause I trust you guys, but also cause I gotta vent. lol

I know im not the sharpest tool in the shed, the brightest bulb in the box, the 'prettiest' flower, and not good with words. I got asked out thre (3!!) times this week, but they were stoned at the time, and one was a guy   , and that skeert me good and proper, but I lost all of my friends cause of who I am, what I do, my future plans and when they started taunting me about i told them to screw off (pardon the language, but I used it for a lack of better words) and leave me alone. Now these guys have friends, and brothers in Highschool, and Ill be going there next fall. There were a handfull that told me they had my back, mostly cause they had the same problem, so I got 5 farm boys, and the hockey team-we may have gone off to different teams, but he original 26 or so of us are well known around town, mainly cause we were the fiorst team to have a 3 game shutout in the rec team's history. lol. And I played net for all 3 games. lol. So if worst comes to worst, which it better not, ill hopefully be prepared with my boys. lol. I have finals coming up this week, I have to do good on them cause my marks went down last semester, I have cattle shows coming up in 17 days, my steer is not finished, and although ive done my best, and im proud of him. Im getting bad mouthed for usin g him as a show steer if he isn't finished (it is 4-H, aren't we supposed to learn to do by doing?)and ast the sale if they aren't over 100 pounds i think, they won't sell them because buyers were complaining cause they wanted a finished one, not a kid's pet. If ya dont want it, dont buy it!!! I show homebred stock, an Im proud of it, no matter what anyone has said, or what they ever will say.

The local show that I trained a heifer calf, and taught my little sister (7) how to show, was cancelled, because the city folk thought that cows were smelly and they pollute the air. So the show is cancelled, much to a teary eyed 7 year old's disbeleif.

I know this sounds really stupid, but im scared silly of highschool. I have known most of these people since we were little kids, and even if we don't get along, I will be the only one in my class from our school ( I saw on the class sheets) and the guys from other schools are worse than the idiots at mine (+sorry bout the language again. sorry iof it offends anyone) And having some of the people in my class that I do, I know ill have people trying to get me to do drugs. Ill say no, and I swore to myself that I wouldnt, but if I cave just once i am s-k-rood. And I dont know any of the people there-sides the hockey team, so it'll be hard.

Mom and dad are fighting over us like were just 'items'. I dont want to go to town-I live here, this is my home, my past, my future, and I make my money here, I dont care who it is here. If it means only seeing one or the other once a week, then so be it. My future is number one right now, and since they really got me upset./ I found a nice pool iof water, where I go swim or just goof in everyonce in a while to calm down. Im going moose, mulie, and whitetail hunting this fall, which means Ill be missing school for prolly a week or so, cause we applied for 4 different zones. It's ticking mom off, cause apparently, dad is bribing me to stay with him-I said from the beginning, that ill be at the farm from november 15 to december 3 cause hunting is my passion, sides cattle, and ranchersnet of course. lol. Im going to get grandpa matt theh big buck I saw, and thats that. '

?Thanks again all, and have a good one

You'll get to know folks at the highschool. It just takes time to make some good friends. Give it time. Be a friend and you'll make a friend.

And don't even be tempted towards drugs. You know that already. If there
is anything to fear it is the drug scene. The biggest messed up lives are the kids who are into that. Small problems only get bigger in the drug scene. you won't regret it standing firm and fast. But you definitely would regret it the other way. [/i]

ACS, have you ever thought of homeschool?

I'm not sure what the laws concerning it in Canada are, but I know that taking Al out of public school was the best thing that ever happened to our whole family......and for high school, he's taking a correspondence course, will get a regular high school diploma when he graduates, can go at his own speed (which varies from really energetically flying through it, to mom having to lay the law down and make sure at least one lesson a day is done, depending on the subject.) He's almost finished with 11th grade, just turned 16, and only started less than 2 years ago.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( hugs kiddo ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I'm proud of you for standing behind what you believe! There aren't many kids out there these days, with such a good head on their shoulders. Hang in there, and you'll be fine!

It's easy to find out, ACS. Just search for homeschool laws in your (state? province? I'm not sure what they call them up there....... )

Down here, we have to submit a form to the state department of education by April 1 each year that we are planning to homeschool the next year. (sounds more complicated than it really is)

If you find that it's something you can do up there, and want me to, I can send you all the information to enroll in Al's school, if that's acceptable to Canada's laws. They are reasonably priced, accredited, and give you a variety of options to sign up for. Let me know if you do, and I'll gather up what I can for you.

Compulsory Attendance: Education Act Section 155

Ages: "Compulsory school age" means having attained the age of seven years but not having attained the age of 16 years.
Days: Not Specified.
Subjects: Not Specified.

Home School Legal Regulations: In the fall of 1993, the Department of Education promulgated extensive regulations governing home schooling in Saskatchewan. This is a summary of the 17 pages of regulations:

by August 15, parents who are home schooling their children must register with their local school board. The written registration must include the following:
the name of the parents responsible for directing and providing instruction in the home school and the address and telephone number of the home.
the name, gender and date of birth of the children in the program.
the date the home school begins.
if applicable, the name of the last school where the student was enrolled, and the last grade level completed.
a written educational plan for the student(s). The plan shall "not be inconsistent with the goals of education for Saskatchewan" and "not be inappropriate for the age and ability of the student for whom the program is intended." Home schoolers do not have to include any concepts, topics or practices that conflict with their conscientious beliefs.
a declaration from the parents affirming that the information is correct, that the parents accept control, direction, management of and responsibility for the home school program.
the school board must review the notification and determine within 30 days of receipt whether it complies with the Education Act and any relevant policies. The school officials may require a conference with the parents, or require the parents to submit additional information. The regulations contain a dispute resolution procedure for disagreements between parents and school officials.
school officials cannot demand home visits, but must obtain the permission of the parents before entering their home.
Teacher Qualifications: None.

Standardized Tests: Not required by statute or regulations, but parents are to maintain a portfolio of each student's work and submit an annual progress report. The progress report can include results of a standardized test, the portfolio of work, or an evaluation done by a person other than the home-schooling parent.

I just found that but cant make heads or tails of it. lol. can anyone help? lol.

The bullies in 8th grade are at the bottom of the totem pole in High School. So you have to realize that the smart mouth ones will be put in their place by the older kids. The ones that show respect will have a great highschool year. I wouldn't worry to much, things will change for the best next year.

Well sunshine I hate to say it-but life is full of people like that-I can think of a couple prime examples herew in the hallowed confines of ranchers.net-just keep soldiering on and you'll get through it-remember no matter how bad a day you are having-somebody else is having a worse one. We all went through that same stuff growing up-you'll be fine.

I bet it won't be as bad as you think. It's so true about how the tables will be turned on the bully types when they hit the big school. All of a sudden they will find themselves at the bottom of the scale. The bigger kids will take care of them, don't worry about that.

My advice is to just be your own friendly self on the first day of class, and you'll find some classmates that will soon become good friends. Everyone else is new to the high school too. It may feel like you're the only one who's a stranger, but you are not. There are lots of kids there who will be feeling exactly the same way.

Anyway, fall is a long time from now. Concentrate on enjoying the summer instead. :D
