The U.S. Meat Export Federation will present its Michael J. Mansfield Award to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE, for the French title, Office International des Epizooties) for its advancement of a science-based approach to international meat safety and trade.
The award will be accepted Nov. 2 at the USMEF Strategic Planning and Marketing Conference in Cancun, Mexico, by Bernard Vallat, OIE director general.
The award, which has only been presented eight times in USMEF's 30-year history, is named for the late congressman, senator and longtime ambassador to Japan in recognition of leadership in expanding opportunities in international trade
