When your waiting around to start a new job, you become a sitting duck when volunteers are needed to take the boys to scout camp in the Uinta Mountains! A shot of the Scout leader/ great neighbor/ friend, Scott and the 413 troop! Both of em'!
Flag raising and each troop had to go up front and give a scout cheer! They look really enthused don't they!
Sure couldnt beat the veiw! Scout lake in the foreground.
At 10370 feet the air is crisp. It was 46 degrees F this mornin' when I left and 92 down here on the flat! The elevation never bugs me but the tempature change will straighten your hair!
The pine's are sure pretty to a guy who dwells among the sage. Camp Steiner was our destination. It was made a scout camp in 1930. Other than the 300 teenage boys and their city boy leaders it was swell. Our boys had fun and that's what counts!
R.J. and Corbin at merit badge class for environmental science. Two ranch kids who probably have forgot more about the subject than the GIRL from town teaching the class has ever learned!
Afternoon shot of Hayden peak. The high clouds yesterday turned into lightning and rain today! Luckily another guy from town came late last night to be there and I was paroled! Just kiddin'! I have to get back to my fence!
And kids will only get the fun and memories if adults are willing to go take them! In the event of a shortage of actual adults, guys like me will have to do!
Fishing in the high country! You can only imagine how picky fish are that get hounded by boys ages 11 to 18 all summer! Maybe a half stick of dynamite would'a worked!
2 kids with great attitudes and a sense of humor! They rolled thier eyes at my lame jokes and ate what we cooked them. Might have to hire them to build fence!
More Uinta mountain perfection. Supposed to be the only major mountain range running east and west in the U.S.
'Bout out of sunlight.
Give the little buggers credit! They were persistent in their efforts to catch a fish!
And a moonlight night and campfire to wrap things up! I'd a loved to have been astride a good horse with a string of mules packing my camp and traps and rode that country 200 years ago. But ya make the best of where and when and the boys had a blast! I didn't earn a single badge or swamp a single canoe but I'm sure glad I went up.
