In May, concerns over disappearing sea ice led the U.S. to officially list the polar bear a threatened species, over objections from experts who claimed the animal's numbers were increasing.

Guess we can forget about the threat everyone was preaching in the 60's about the Earth cooling and another ice age on the way.

doesn't look like it.. "SEA ICE GROWING AT FASTEST PACE ON RECORD"

7 Nov 08 - An abnormally cool Arctic is seeing dramatic changes to ice levels. The total amount of ice, which set a record low last year, grew in October at the fastest pace since record-keeping began in 1979, bringing ice back to levels from the 1980s.

"The models predict a warming ocean around Antarctica, so why would we see more sea ice?" Large areas of the Southern Pacific are showing cooling trends, an occurrence not anticipated by any current climate model, Michaels adds.

this one actually shocked me..
Antarctic Ice Sheet growing enough
to lower sea levels

The world in 2008 has been cooler than at any time since the turn of the century, scientists say.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) notes that temperatures remained about 0.3C above the 1961-1990 average. (BBC)

but this headline says it all..
Climate Change Issue Heats Up With Coldest Year On Record

I've worked hard to keep the globe warm.. and invested heavily in coastal property that would become waterfront if global warming melted all the ice.. can I sue Gore for my losses?

It can't have anything to do we're coming down off a high solar activity cycle to a low sun spot cycle, that would be crazy!
