One of the largest union-administered health-insurance funds in New York is dropping coverage for the children of more than 30,000 low-wage home attendants, union officials said. The union blamed financial problems it said were caused by the state’s health department and new national health-insurance requirements.

The fund is administered by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, an affiliate of the Service Employees International Union. Union officials said the state compelled the fund to start buying coverage from a third party, which increased premiums by 60%. State health officials denied forcing the union fund to make the switch, saying the fund had been struggling financially even before the switch to third-party coverage.

I think that we had better get used to the words, "Unintended consequences".

Maybe if they hadn't of spent all that money getting obama elected and then campaigning for obamacare, they'd be able to cover the children.

The Unions want a Single payer system and by refusing to insure the kids they are forcing them to go onto the government system. With all those extras in the government plan you can bet it will not be long before they get what they really want. They will not be providing any insurance for any of their members which leaves them with more of the membership fees in their pockets to buy all future elections.

Insurance companies can't drop the insured but Obama and the Dems will allow the Unions to drop them as the Dems are not going to risk ticking the Unions off as they know who is going to benefit from all that extra union money come election time. :x
