Senate Dems Vote To Keep White House Closed

Senate Democrats vote to keep White House closed to public

Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn (R) offered up an amendment to a bill to finance the government through the end of the fiscal year that would have set aside $8 million to keep both the White House tour and several national parks open.

Unfortunately, Senate Democrats voted the amendment down Wednesday,

Coburn’s amendment was defeated on a 54-45 vote, the Times noted, with nearly every Republican voting to reopen the White House and with almost all Democrats voting to back President Obama’s decision to cancel the tours —

54 Democrats voted against reopening the tours. None have voted to defund President Obama’s golf trips.

It would have shifted $6 million from state-based National Heritage Areas programs to help correct supposed shortages at the White House. Democrats claimed that it was more vital to keep open the Elvis Music Boat tour in Georgia and community concerts in Delaware at a winery,

priorities..

If times are as bad as everyone on here puts out they are-- they should have closed down all those things- WH tours, National Park openings, National Heritage Areas programs... All just luxury items.....

most families and businesses can prioritize...

it is really easy... just figure out a way to cut a little,.. have grilled hamburgers instead of steak once a month... and you cut a bit..

instead of buying coffee for the road, take out the dusty ol thermos and you cut a bit more..

take a sandwich and pack a lunch instead of buying food at work... and you cut out a bit more...

this my way or the highway attitude and total lack of priorities is why we are in this mess.. none of the liberals are willing to actually cut anything... and sadly we need them to vote to pass a budget... so they get handed all this pork to vote...

it is time to cut,.. and if the liberals want to look like the grinch to make a point so be it...

Dang, what a time to put gasoline in the diesel powered "Beast" that Buckwheat rides in.

At a cost $3 Million they may not be able to replace it with times this tough?

OH don't forget the First Lady's Aspen Ski trips and Martha Vineyards vacations and Christmas in Hawaii all taken on separate jets. Can't forget to fund those while locking the doors of the White House to US students.

Maybe obama could use some of the taxpoayer money at home, instead of outsourcing jobs and taxpayer money.

And this list is besides the money spent teaching African males how to wash their genitals.
