Senate rejects foreign aid cuts to Egypt, Libya and Pakistan

By a vote of 81 to 10, the Senate on Saturday defeated legislation that would have suspended foreign aid to Pakistan, Egypt and Libya in the wake of the violent anti-American demonstrations in those countries. All 10 supporters of the bill were Republicans.

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul had threatened to hold up all Senate business until the bill was considered. He succeeded in forcing a vote, but couldn’t come close to passage.

“When nearly 80 percent of Americans believe foreign aid should be reduced – especially to countries that are not our allies – it is inconceivable why their views are ignored by so many in Congress,” Paul said in a statement. “I am far from defeated on this; I will continue to fight for this issue when Congress returns, and I will continue to call attention to the billions of American dollars – borrowed from China, among other places – being sent to governments that are not willing to respect and protect our interests overseas.”

Sen. John McCain scolded some conservative Republicans for trying to strip foreign aid from Egypt and Libya after attacks on diplomatic facilities in those countries left a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans dead.

“Of course I think it would be incredibly foolish,” McCain, an Arizona Republican and leading defense hawk, told reporters Thursday as he left a closed-door Senate Intelligence Committee briefing about Tuesday’s attacks that was attended by CIA Director David Petraeus.

“Only someone who doesn’t understand anything about that part of the world would suggest such idiocy,” he said.

Hmmmm

Cult: a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

Seems like your command of the English language is lacking. Maybe you shouldn't use a word in a sentence that contradicts the theme of the sentence you are trying to create.

i.e. if there is a "cult" being a group bound together by veneration of the same ideal, they wouldn't have a leader with differing views. That by definition is not the "same".

Don't give up, keep trying to use the big words.

The cult comes about because of the actions of its followers- who once initiated in- vote for anyone with an R by their name- no matter if they think like Rand Paul or have conflicting views like John McCain--- but view anyone else with differing or conflicting views as always wrong...

By a vote of 81 to 10,

so who missed the "initiation".. ?

we know all the democrats you support were in lockstep...

but somehow the conservatives voted in stark contrast to any reasonable definition of a cult,.. again...

"years ago" you had to earn the "aid", nowadays, meaning after obama, you take it and buy weapons to kill those that give you the "aid", under the guise of wanting "democracy", well that's a different story.

If the militias that you arm to "unthorne" a dictator, in the name of democracy, are killing your citizens, because you are tired and need to go to bed, then you might have to reduce aid.

But OT will defend the reduction of aid to the Isalmic radicals, because they aid his agenda of reducing the influence of domestic "right wing radicals".

"the enemy of my enemy is my friend"

I hope OT is one of the first to be beheaded by his "friends"
