Sheriff Joe Could Close the Borders

As I've said many times before- its hard for me to swallow Bush's fearmongering that we are all in imminent danger in this country if he doesn't proceed with his oil wars- when he refuses to put security on our borders and close off all the illegal invaders that are entering this country...If the danger truly exists- than all efforts should be put to shut off the terrorists ability to enter- pack in WMD's-and continue funding much of their enterprises with the drug trade....
But instead GW's latest budget CUTS drug enforcement programs- and much of the funding for interdicting drugs  :(

GW should be talking to Sheriff Joe....

Sheriff Arpaio Knows How to Secure the Border

Hands down, Joe Arpaio is the toughest sheriff in America. And although he is most well-known for his tough treatment of prisoners, Arpaio has over 30 years experience with different federal drug enforcement agencies, and, as the former head of border and drug enforcement in Texas and Arizona, he is one of the country’s leading experts on how to shut down illegal immigration and cross-border drug trafficking.

His is a hard-core, no-frills approach to incarceration, with 10,000 Maricopa County, Ariz., prisoners held in old Army surplus tents, fed on bologna sandwiches, and clothed in black-and-white striped, old-style prison uniforms and pink underwear.

His prisoners have worked on chain gangs, and they are forbidden fancy gyms, cigarettes, entertaining television and even salt and pepper.

Although prisoners would not agree, Arpaio, 76, has become an American folk hero of penology.

His new book, “Joe's Law: America's Toughest Sheriff Takes on Illegal Immigration, Drugs and Everything Else That Threatens America,” co-authored with Len Sherman, presents a bold new approach to finally, once and for all, shutting down America’s borders to criminal Mexican people-smugglers, fence-jumpers and drug peddlers.

Despite his experience, neither politician nor president has ever asked Joe Arpaio what we should do to plug up America’s sieve-like borders. He recently revealed his plan to Newsmax in an exclusive interview.

Newsmax: How big of a problem is illegal immigration in the U.S. today?

Sheriff Arpaio: It is an enormous problem. Illegal aliens are responsible for a huge percentage of illegal drugs — marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin — which destroy the lives of our youth. Some 22 percent of the people in my jails are illegal aliens! We’re talking about people in jail for murder, rape, and every other kind of violence. It must be stopped.

Newsmax: How would you stop illegal immigration?

Arpaio: First of all, crossing the border illegally is a crime — a felony. Arrest everybody involved. They are co-conspirators in human trafficking. In Phoenix, we started putting the illegal alien smugglers, and their customers, in jail, instead of turning them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE], which just gives them a free trip back to Mexico, so they can jump the border again.

Newsmax: What would you do with the illegals?

Arpaio: I would erect tent jails right on the border, and courts — convict and jail them for six months. You can’t work and send money back to your loved ones if you’re in jail. That will take away a lot of their incentive for illegally entering the U.S.

Newsmax: Do you check immigration status when you arrest someone?

Arpaio: When we arrest inmates, we check their immigration status and, if they are illegals, we prosecute. They usually get probation and deportation and, if they are caught here again, they get five years in prison.

Newsmax: What about federal/state/county cooperation?

Arpaio: I like “cross-designation,” and have sworn in 300 FBI, ICE and DEA agents as deputies, and they now can enforce Arizona state law as well as federal law. Also, 160 of my officers are sworn in with full power as federal agents.

Newsmax: What about the federal border fence?

Arpaio: You might sell more shovels and ladders — that’s about it. If you’re going to spend billions of dollars on a fence, why not just put some jails on the border and dump them in there?

Newsmax: How do you feel about amnesty for illegal aliens in the U.S.?

Arpaio: I’m against it. It’s a matter of fairness. Why should someone who is here illegally be rewarded with an easy path to citizenship? However, with McCain and Obama as the candidates, I predict there will be some form of amnesty in this country.

I took an oath to enforce all the laws, and so did politicians. Why are they not enforcing immigration laws?

Newsmax: How do we control illegal drugs coming across the border?

Arpaio: Attack it at the source. About 90 percent of the heroin comes from Afghanistan. I would hope this president drops a few bombs on the opium fields while we are fighting a war there. All we need is the national will to stop it.

Newsmax: What about putting the military on the border?

Arpaio: I’m against that. If you give the military the border, they will be enforcing the law deep inside the U.S. It can turn into a dictatorship. This is a law enforcement issue — build up law enforcement and give them the resources to do it. If you want tanks on the border, give law enforcement tanks.

Newsmax: You started an illegal immigration alert hotline — how’s that working out?

Arpaio: Great! In the last 12-15 months, we have had 5,000 phone calls with leads. Now, we have an employer sanction law, and I am enforcing that law. You can lose your license if you hire illegal immigrants.

Unlike your term in office it appears like Joe gets things done, Mybe that is because he doesn't spend all that time in secret meetings with FBI/CIA black helicopter gatherings!!! :D :D
Could that be the reason he has had more than one term in office????

Well- hoppy- snoopy- olld mule- qeeksdraw- old mac- memanpa or how many other names your alter ego anonymously wants to put you out to be today - normally I would not answer you- and I was going to answer you with a PM-but do not believe in operating in the shadows and behind closed doors like King George and your current neocon Idols do... Since you challenged my record personally (which I have never hid who or what I am) with inuendos that are aboslutely wrong I will answer you openly...

I ran for Sheriff after 23 years experience/working in law enforcement-after the retirement of the boss I had worked for almost 20 years-and ran as an Independent because I don't believe local government and especially law enforcement should be connected to Partisan Politics.....

I won by a major amount over the cultist (R) and (D) that ran- with bipartisan support (and was the first Independent to win since Depression days) and so convinced the county that local elections should be nonpartisan that they put it to the vote of the county- which later voted by 3-1 to change the law to make all local elections nonpartisan....Which they now are...

After 27 years in law enforcement and 1 term as Sheriff- I was offered the opportunity to buy out the last interests in the family farming/ranching operation that I have worked on since I was born- and that has been in the family since 1916- but it meant more commitment of time- and since my retirement would pay as much as a I was currently earning- I jumped at it- and bought the last 1/3 out ...

My endorsed Undersheriff ( who could have years before easily taken a full medical retirement because of an A-hole breaking his legs and ruining his knees with a 2X4- as he tried to disarm him of a knife) then ran for the office- won- and served out a 4 year term before he retired....My endorsed candidate (My former brand inspector supervisor) then ran- won- and has been re-elected for a second term- winning the last election with a 5-1 landslide.... Does that sound like being run out of the county....

Since then I was offered and nominated by 2 Judges a part time position as Acting Judge and Justice to fill in for them (actually offered a full time, but don't have the time to be tied down that much)- and act when they are unavailable...This nomination was approved by the District Court Judge that swore me in- and the Montana Supreme Court....

So if your insinuating- like you have been that I was ran out of office- or not backed by the county-- YOU ARE FULL OF SH*T!
But that doesn't surprise me- because you and folks like A+, loomixpeddler, Larry (and his repeat personal attack posts) and others, - that hide in anonymity- or like you have to hide behind handfuls of ID's- and just want to attack the messenger rather than argue the message are convincing me more and more how bad a message the neocons have had/have to offer.... :D

Maybe Joe get's re elected because he doesn't spend his time spreading regurgitated repetitive fearmongering

Or doing his job instead of spending all his time on the computor posting in news groups like this one.
No wonder he never has any time.
Hope he used all his 27 yrs of training in law inforcment better on that job than he does in here, probabally too many secret missions on the space ships has clouded his thought process and made him paranoid, look at how many people he credits to me being?  Any person that criticizes him must be coming from me so and that name must be linked to me by his thought process, never mind that the accuastions have no basis of proof. Guess by his thought process a person is guilty by association. DISREGARD the fact I have admitted to having 3 names in here, everytime he addresses me in a post the numbers increase and frankly I nor anyone else that has pmed me can see any link, count them 6 yes that is right 6 names today, Can you say PARANOID :D

To those that he claims are also me I apoligize for his ignorance and his outright lack of respect for those he linked to me.

By golly you may have something there.

But then again, one has to be aware of what he's doing to be able to control it.

OT doesn't have the brains to recognize his repetition and how foolish it makes him look.

FINALLY the Change Obama promised
In 2008 Oldtimer liked Sheriff Joe and thought he was the guy that could close the border down to all the Illegal riff raff coming across under Bush

IN 2012 Sheriff Joe is scum that needs to be punished by The Obama Administration for doing the same job of keeping the riff raff out that Obama needs to get re-elected (Plus investigating Obama's BC)

In 2008 he doesn't like PM in the shadows conversations.

2011 he crows about all the in the shadows PM conversations he is having about all of us with his liberal buddies that have gone into hiding verses sticking around and defending their Obama vote.

In 2008 he hated close door meeting the King George had

In 2012 he is still defending Dictator Obama making dirty back room deals to get his own party members to pass his signature Healthcare bill that a majority of voter didn't want and still don't.

How things CHANGE in 4 years.
