....step in and help the damaged stated in the South?

Why? Those people have insurance... the towns have insurance.....

Why must the Fed's come running and pick up the pieces?

It wasn't their doing?

People want less gov't in their lives....well, it's a helluva way to start...but here is your starting place........

Let the states take care of it themselves.

I'd bet if a vote were taken, white southerners don't want the intrusion of FEMA in their lives.

But then you'd have those Democrat freeloaders that would scream racism if they FEMA never showed up.

Agreed.

I'd like to see our federal government provide for our national defense, protect our borders, and maintain our interstate highway system.

Beyond that we could dismatle such elephants as the Department of Education, Department of Energy, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and, well, all the others not related to those 3 mentioned above.

Fedeal taxes could be levied accordingly and each state could basically take care of itself. While we're at it, on a federal level we could dissolve the IRS and probably do away with 90% of the federal employees on our payroll.

Based on the tone of your post, I assume you agree.

I agree , take the revenue the FED collects, provide for the Constitutionally required services and apportion the remainder to the states..

shouldn't be too hard to do. I think the founders even provided the Citizens with a list.

Cutting out the duplication and bureaucracy would save the taxpayers 100s of billions and I doubt you would even notice the difference in service, except that it would be more manageable on a smaller scale
