Should we execute the dealers?

A few days ago I had to wait around while getting some semi repairs done up in Rapid City, and got to visiting with an over-the-road trucker that hauls meat from Minnesota (I think) to California. He had been drug-free for 11 years, and told my 6th grader and me the horrible life experiences he had had with Alcohol, speed, and especially Meth... until he had gotten clean, which he gave credit to God and his wife. He had an interesting and simplistic solution for getting rid of this countries drug problem, and the only one I've ever heard that would actually end it abruptly...quite simply, all convicted drug dealers must be put to death, and all users must give up the names of their suppliers or face a 50 year sentence. Sounds like a great idea to me, what do you all think?

We have a friend who knows, that says meth use is widely spread in the trucking industry as it helps keep the drivers awake...

Heck, yes, put them to death. Maybe not for alcohol but for drug use.
Meth use is a cancer that is out of control in our country.

Most meth dealers are junkies that will almost never clean up voluntarily, and go right back to their intense addiction once incarceration ends. Kansas has recent laws that put dealers and manufactures in prison for about 10 years, and its really changing law enforcement. Leo doesn't see the same old criminals over and over - they are locked up for a long long time.

I might be ok with a parole after 5 years if the criminal had really improved his earning power with school and addressed his addiction problem - screw that up and ...flush. Death penalty cases simply cost too much.

Finally, I would make marijuana legal. not as a gateway drug, and not because its safe, but legal weed may keep some from meth and coke and on and on.

Cal, what shop do you use at Rapid, what about the coop shop at Hemingford or Hay Springs?

Iraq reinstated the death penalty while I was over there for a few crimes. I know one was murder and one was also for dealing drugs. Didn't sound too harsh to me at all.

Who's heard the song Simple Man by Charlie Daniels?

Up here truck drivers get drug tested and it manditory. I believe its the same way in the States.
No doped up truck driver is going to last long in the industry.
Now years ago it was quite different. No drug testing, no federal commercial drivers licences, and no reciprical agreements between provinces and states, plus no computer internet to keep track of everything.
On top of that insurance rates and companies get their log books routinely audited.
The Dave Dudely trucking days are long gone.

I agree dope dealers should be shot. The whole dope thing is a cancer on society.

Sorry, didn't mean to disappear like old Disagreeable, but it was our turn to have a lightning fire in the Sandhills... and was scheduled to get another load of distillers grain at Huron yesterday as well. Got just enough of a shower during the fire to slow it down pretty good, so wasn't real bad, and had lots of good neighbors and fire trucks show up as well. Haven't used the co-ops, Brad, but usually go to Black Hills Truck and Trailer off I90 exit 63. Seems like they run a pretty tight ship, and your odds of having parts available is a little better up there IMO. Have been buying truck tires at Dales Tire off of where Cambell Street becomes Hiway 79.

I'm sure your plan would work, Cal. But we can't even get rid of the animals that we've already got on death row. I really think we need to get more aggressive about wasting those first.

I'd like to see an automatic appeal straight to the Supreme Court for their review. Stop all of that nonsense of cases being tied up in legal channels. Give the Supremes 30 days max to look it over. Then it's time for the condemned to start planning his goodbyes. Give the states 72 hours to carry out the sentence after the Court's review.

After we clean up death row in all of the states, I've got some others I'd rather see go before the drug dealers. If it was up to me, the child molesters would get it next. Or even before the murderers. Then the rapists.

After we turn all of that trash into meat and bone meal, we can talk about doing the drug dealers. By that time, maybe criminals will be able to tell that we're tired of their **** and serious about tending to business.

You're right, the process needs to be streamlined...maybe turned into a reality show where the victims family gets to throw the switch and win cash and prizes.

Cal, Do you bounce all the way to Huron or is there something that needs to go east? In Kansas, they like to see the DG wet, but that sure impedes trucking it any distance.

What are DG's costing at Huron? do you store on flat storage?

Have you been paying attention to Katrina's biodiesel/sunflower thread? Plus, sunflower hulls would really simplify a high concentrate diet.

QUESTION~

We know nothing about Distillers Grain. We can get some here, finally.
How would it work to put out for a cow/calf pairs in the pasture in
some kind of trough? Has anyone tried that? We have a friend who wants
to help his cattle in this way. Is is safe? Do you need to mix salt with it
as a limiter? What advice do you have?

It's $130/ton here laid in. He was thinking of giving 1# per head per day.
So that would be 1# for the cow and 1# for the calf.

Thanks.

130 a ton eh? Yikes.. That is a bit... WE buy it wet personally as it is cheaper 22-25 bucks a ton (Sometimes close to 30) but their is a plant 50 miles away so the frieght doesn't kill us and the wet mixes better. He is talking about self feeding or feeding it daily? On a daily basis it is safe wit the only concern being that it is very high in fat (At least our Distillers is) and a quick ramp up can cause bloat. 1 pound a day would be like 3 pounds of the wet but I don't think that would be a problem.

My neighbor is feeding 15 pounds wet Gluten and 15 pounds wet Distillers mixed in a fed trough to his cows right now.. Just drove by the mixing wagon. As long as you have enough trough space so that all animals can feed at once we have not had a problem and neither has he. The only problem is you will have t supplement Calcium or limit Phos for the ration a bit as Distillers has real high ratio.

Forty lashes, but yep, have been running there empty. Could probably get organized and haul wheat that way, but waiting for the price to go down. Also, kind of a full day to make the trip and get unloaded without loading again before leaving. I got two loads that had problems with the fermenting process and were still sticky and hard to unload for $60 and $65, the rest is at $70 right now...and unloading it onto flat storage. I've been waiting patiently for Katrina to say "ya'll stop by here and fill up on Sunflower Juice", but geuss it must have slipped her mind.
