Should we outlaw Cell phones?

Making it against the law to use cell phones while driving is being looked at in more and more areas of North America.

They will never be able to enforce these laws, newly defined "criminals", will still break the law.

Should we be looking at banning cell phones all together, so as to save the lives of those killed by cell phone using drivers?

This thread isn't really about cell phones, Kolo...

People should not be allowed to own anything that has ever caused so much as one death. That way, none of us will have anything except what our all knowing government deems necessary, and the current administration's Grand Plan will be realized.

Are there not laws that already cover driving, while not being in total control, and paying attention while driving?

"Undue care and control"

but that was not my point, even if you make a law that makes it illegal to drive while using a cell phone, people will still do it.

The only way to stop it totally, would be to not allow the manufacture of cell phones.

\kind of like gun control, there are already laws against murder, threatening, assault, but criminals still commit the crimes.

That was your reason for posting about cell phones?.talk about a reach....

Reach? How?

How is making gun ownership more restrictive for law abiding citizens, going to cut down on crime?

How is making cell usage while driving illegal going to cut down on accidents due to not having "care and control" of your vehicle?

Are responsible owners of cells using them while driving?

Are responsible gun owners using them to commit crimes?

Nonothing, it is the person that commits the crime, not the "tool".

We may also want to outlaw swimming pools or swimming in general since more people die of drowning accidents than die of gun accidents each year.

Maybe we could have a swimming suit registration so we know exactly who all is out there swimming!

The liberals would also want a "skinny dipping" registration!

Maybe instead of an outright ban on cell phones, we should experiment by starting out with a limit on how many you can buy at one time? I remember several years ago buying two cell phones at once.

I admit that I was gullible and fell for the, 'second one for just a penny' deal. And it was so easy - almost no questions asked. But what possible reason could a person have for buying two cell phones at one time?

Considering how dangerous they are, one per month is a reasonable limit for cell phones. If we only save one life, it will be worthwhile.

While we are at it, let's outlaw cars and trucks, since they kill far more than guns. Seems this should make sense to that same group of people.

See you conservatives that everything to the extreme. Bunch of DRAMA QUEENS.

Now lets go back to the original question and forget what hypo was trying to in a round about behind the issue way get at. Cell phones used while driving a car distract the driver. Do you want someone distracted as they drive toward you? I know I don't.
