Shutting down Bull Session Archives

M Gravlee

Well-known member
Unless someone has a good argument why not, I am going to shut down http://cattlecorner.com/ which contains the old archives of the Bull Session at the end of April. Cattlecorner.com only had 641 page views last month. As a reference Ranchers.net Bull Session had 12,812 page views yesterday.

Cattlecorner.com loses money every month and I'm tired of subsidizing it.

I have thought the same thing Randy.

The grinding of teeth combined with the whining and crying from some on this site about how Wal-Mart (unless they are selling US beef in Japan) Tyson, Cargill, China and Canada are poisoning society and America as a whole is almost relentless but put one of the good 'ol toxic chemical pimps up in the corner of the screen and they don't say boo!

Bill, I think you are taking things to an extreme here. Walmart, Cargill, Tyson and others do have benefits to society. Some of us are pointing out that many of the things they do are not benefits to our society and are not getting corrected by our society. Instead, they are gaining comparative advantage and economic rewards many times because of these things that are destructive to our society.

You seem to want to criticize those who point out these problems. It is kind of like the small kleptomaniac who continually picks up items from small stores and not get caught, starts his own store to sell these goods, and you seem to gripe at anyone criticizing this setup arguing that this klepto has a very successful business.

I guess it takes all kinds.

No griping on my part, merely pointing out the double standards and hypocricy of some though it is funny how quickly it hit a nerve, huh Econ?

Maybe its time for a bit of a reality check Econ. You have averaged almost 11.5 posts each and every day on this site (even after taking a couple of months off) complaining mainly about corporate America or the evil world outside the US of A.

I will leave the continual griping to those such as yourself.

maybe macon could put together ot's one hundred most outrageous posts before he shuts down the archives. that would draw a lot of attention; kind of like slowing down to look at a fatal accident.

Do you buy your beef from Walmart, or use chemicals on your land Econo?
Have you heard the fact that this generation of children will be the first to have a shorter life span than their parents? Or that 25% of these kids are not only overweight but obese.

Corporate agriculture has ruined the food supply and it's time to bring it back.

I guess people like you will excuse anything bill. You are a lot like MRJ. If it doesn't affect you personally, it is just griping about the boogey man.

Like I said, it takes all kinds.

If my posting a lot hurts your feelings, bill, go put your head in your crying pillow. Making comments about it on this board isn't going to get you any sympathy from me.

rkaiser, I don't buy my beef from walmart. I have on occasion in the past done it and was terribly dissatisfied. The last beef we killed was not processed the way I would have preferred. It had a little bloody taste to it. I don't think they bled it out all the way at the local butcher. I do buy beef from Sam's from time to time and I know they are connected with Walmart. I will usually buy a whole ribeye or something when I do this and cut it myself.

I don't use chemicals on my land, although I have in the past. We have fire ants and have looked at ways of getting rid of them. I have used sevin dust in the garden and stuff like that. I have also tried beneficial nematodes and beneficial insects.

I would totally agree with you on corporate agriculture. I totally support your efforts in being a part of the proactive change.

It would be nice to be able to get a copy of the archives, perhaps on a disc(s), if at all possible. You could sell it...

Says a lot doesn't it?

Don't worry about sympathy for me Econ. Best save it for yourself and your own Boogeymen!

Assuming (which is only your assumption) that I took a general comment so closely to heart, what does it say, Bill?

I go back through the old Bull Session and old Political Bull archives from time-to-time. I sure as hell wouldn't want to have to pay for it, though.

Yep, Macon. She's a gummer, still eating and not producing. Time to send her down the road.

When I saw this thread I spent a bit of time surfing myself this afternoon. Farewell, original bull session!
