Sights of the Calgary Stampede

Took a trip to Calgary for a little rodeo and fair action.

Not good at crowed public transit and too cheap to pay big bucks to park. Being somewhat familiar with the area found a street parking spot a half mile from the park. On the walk in.

The Stampede is literally in the middle of the City.

To serve and protect.

Lots of things to do before the rodeo.

Maintaining the infield. The grandstand was pretty full.

Heading for the barn.

Rough stock was gone before I left my seat. Nice handling facility. There is another one beside this one.

Nice view of downtown.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at those pictures, per. Thanks a b
bunch! We've never been to the Stampede, but it's on our
bucket list. (Mr. FH would like to avert the masses too. )

Those pens are something else and you got a real good shot of
them. Mr. FH will really like seeing that setup (he's in the hayfield now).

Those Mounties have to be tough to wear those coats in July!!!

Who won with the shetland? The kids or the pony?

If I ever have the insanity to brave the crowds and attend the Stampede, I now know the fella to contact for seating arrangements.

Thanks for the photos Per.

If you want to sit there let me know by Christmas time. I wasn't going to go but a friend couldn't make this performance so he gave us his seats. I have a horse dander allergy problem so these were kinda close for me.

It would be fun to go but unlikely at this stage. I watched Steve Lloyd come up through the ranks of our little local rodeo assn. and knew Lee Graves and his family quite well when they lived in Williams Lake.
Steve's parents and brother still live in the Quesnel area.

Good pictures! I think the rodeo photo contest came one week too soon. We just watched that chuckwagon run a half an hour ago. Still have the races on the TV right now.

I don't think we'll ever get to the Stampede, at least until we're old and creaky. I doubt if they'd change the date so it doesn't fall during haying just for us.

I never took a single tie down or steer wrestling photo even though they were literally in front of me. I just sat back and enjoyed watching them. You miss too much when taking a picture. The tree huggers are kind of sensitive about those two events anyway so the less of those shots floating around the better. There were some incredible times posted. I was sitting on the barrel racing line, boy those gals are fast.

I could of took pics of alot of Calgary-I always get lost trying to find my way out from contestant parking lol. Ryan Jarret probably put on a long round deal in the calf roping won't be equaled for awhile-four calves none over 6.9 and tied the world record with a 6.3. Nice to see Lee Graves win the dogging that will help the ribs heal. I've got a couple good stories from the roughie end but those aren't for public consumption lol.
