Sinclair Female Sale

Another rainy day- so I listened to half the sale as they couldn't get their video feed to work til half way in the sale--and then after they did- they maybe shouldn't have  ... Several of the cows were pretty hot- and about the 5th or 6th one after they got their video back- an old gal took the ringman, followed him right behind the barrier, breaking the barrier, making him have to take refuge up with the auctioneer, and then got stuck behind the barrier which held up the sale a little while...

Thought she would make a good pet for Northern Rancher  :p  He could have got her for a cheap $1200..

With all the $10,000, 20,000 and $30,000 cows that started off the sale- I figured they would do pretty fair for an average..Besides the ones with attitude- I thought those I saw sell on the internet looked pretty good for what you could see....

An awful lot of the cattle in that sale were either linebred EXT or had a lot of EXT influence...I like the type of the Sinclair cattle- but prefer their Dale Davis and Jorgenson lines over much of their N-Bar/EXT line...

310 Lots Totaled $1,038,550 an average of $3356

There are cows that actually sell for $20,000 - $30,000? Or perhaps I should ask if there are ranchers who actually pay that kind of money for cows.

Actually the first 6 out of 9 sold were over $20,000 with a $37,000 top for one of 4465's daughters to Double Bar R Angus of northern Indiana. Several more in the teens of thousands...

These were apparently being bought by folks or groups to go into donor programs....Someone with a lot more knowledge of that game than me, said the cows were some of the tops of Sinclairs donor program...

Donor programs? Sorry I'm so slow on the uptake here. It was a long week at the ranch. :?

And exactly what is it that makes these cows so special? Does one have a "my god, look at that animal" moment when first seeing one?

no, it's more like, "my god, look at how she is bred." or "my god, look who she is bred to."

Whitewing- they flush the eggs from the donor cows- then fertilize them with whatever bull(s) they want- and implant them in other cows to carry and raise...

And someone else will have to explain what makes them worth that much as they sure ain't to me.....
