Sarah Palin Welcomes Grandson

America's most famous "hockey mom" is now a grandmother.

Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol has given birth to a healthy baby boy, People Magazine reports.

Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston was born in Palmer, Alaska, and weighed in at 7 lb., 4 oz.

"We think it's wonderful," Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother Sally Heath, told People. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

Bristol Palin's pregnancy caused a stir when it became public soon after her mother was tapped to be the Republican vice presidential nominee.

The father of the baby, former Wasilla High School hockey standout Levi Johnston, had announced plans to marry Bristol in 2009.

:D Now some of you have a **crush** on a Grandma.

Is this some of the values that conservatives were so wanting Palin to bring with McCain?

I agree Mrs. G, I know lots of younger Grandmas than her, you'd think this was the first baby ever born to an 18 yr old!

No Calvin I was more refering to the fact that her daughter was out sleeping around and Perfect Palin didn't have her on the pill or have her convinced about saying no. This is real life and it happens but how could it happen to a conservative?

Conservatives support values right? Morals? Seem more charged by Bible issues and such? So why is it stupid to wonder why this wasn't more of an issue? Why wasn't it an issue that Palin herself was "knocked up"?

You must not have been paying attention. Palin never said anything about her family being perfect, she described them as being like many others.....even diverse, and tolerant, I'm surprised that didn't float your boat. Mainly she wanted government out of everyones life as much as possible......shame on her I guess. I think it's a crappy deal to drag politicians kids through the mud, as it's wrong to be gleeful about anyones kid making bad decisions.

Don't worry Cal, some of those that think everyone who stands up for Palin must have a crush on her, when in fact it is their insecurities and jealousy that plague them.
In fact some go such great pains to point out every little thing such as sex before marriage that it makes one wonder if they are not hiding something in their closet like indulgence themselves? :D :D :D

Why is someon insecure and jealouse if they don't support someone. I didn't support McCain and called him old yet you weren't yelling I was jealous of him. When in reality I was he's the one that's linked to the beer world.

I didn't mind Palin until she opened her mouth. A pretty woman doesn't make all other women jealous. Why in the world would one be jealous of someone with a majority of the country laughing at her to being just down right disgusted at the opening of her mouth and a knocked up daughter. I don't see anything to be jealous about or insecure about.

Hoppy if you are asking in your point it out kinda way if I had sex before marriage yes I did. Am I proud of it? No. Was I armed with responsible information from the adults in my life to avoid getting knocked up? Yes. Did I sleep with every Tom, Dick, and Harry. No. I've only slept with one person in my life. So there now your little insinuating mind knows. Can you the finger pointer say the same?

Congratulations Sarah. Being a grandparent is something else we now have in common.

If you had been a democrat your daughter would have had an abortion and you probably wouldn't even know about it. The libs wouldn't have this to whine about either because they wouldn't know.

Hug that baby and be thankful. I know I am.

Do you hold the adults in your life who armed you with this "responsible information" accountable for the follies in your own life? They tried to give you proper training to do what was right. By the same token, should Sarah Palin be held responsible for the follies of her daughter?

Sometimes youngsters tend to veer away from what they were taught. Parents can try their best to train their children in what is right. Ultimately, each person is accountable for their own actions. Parents cannot be held completely responsible for the actions of their children, and conversely, children cannot be held responsible for the actions of their parents. We each report in on the final Judgement Day all by ourself. The only sure light at the end of the tunnel, if we have accepted the Gift, is that Jesus will be at our side to represent us as we present our case. But that is mixing Christianity with politics which is not politically correct. :)

I've had follies? Well dang it anyway. The things one doesn't learn about themselves at ranchers.net.

At 18 in my opinion the girl is still a child and at that point yes it is a parents responsibility still at that point.

I totally also believe in self accountability. In my opinion a parent cannont be held responsible when their adult child follows paths that are undesirable. Having said that sometimes really good kids come from poor parents and they shouldn't have their parents held against them. However, I think as a parent when my child stumbles I will have to ask myself what role in it I played. I think that is just part of being a parent.

I take the first comment back.. your latest comment is the stupidest I have heard all year..

so much for you the being tolerant of others.. I just don't feel laughing at a persons child getting "knocked up" is funny or even shows the least bit if care or concern..

I might be against teen pregancy, and feel abortion is wrong.. but I would work harder to prevent then then I would spending time condeming those who find themselves in a dificult position of dealing with the consequences of a bad choice. Unlike liberals who mock the family and scoff at the consequances of thier misguided policy.

Approximately one-third of young women in the United States become pregnant during their teens. Most teen pregnancies are unintended and unintentional.

your right, Sarah Palin should not have ventured on to the national stage with a pregnent child, and she should have resigned as gov to stay and watch her children as they grew up,.. that way this might not have happened. (insert sarcasm smiley here)

maybe Obama will make it a law that woman have to stay at home or at least only take part time menial jobs until their children are married or at least finished with college. that way this shoking situation could be avoided.. (insert sarcasm smiley here)
