You have certainly covered a mulitude of miles and seen a lot of pretty country. Those are some quaint old barns in your photos. They have done a good job of standing the test of time, and could probably tell some interesting tales if they could just talk. Thanks for posting the pictures so the rest of us could have an armchair tour.

I will likely post some pix of Boulder in the snow and of Salt Lake City and of Whidbey Island and Deception Pass near Seattle. Great country. I did take a few pix of Wyoming - one of Outlaw Inn and two taken on I-80 of a picturesque butte -- while driving 80 MPH (I slowed down from 90 MPH).

I loved all of the places I visited. I think I was most impressed with the Seattle area in terms of the combination of Puget Sound and the various lakes and coastal area, the fertile farmland, and the ring of snow-covered mountains.

Of course when I drove into Utah from Wyoming, the change in scenery floored me.

Yup, thats what we love out west. Tourists who drive rudely and complain about all them dumb hicks who don't know how to drive.

Hey I was wearing my cowboy hat and driving a Ford Explorer. I thought I blended in except when I put on my designer Santa Fe sunglasses  I was not going as fast as the trucks, that's for sure. With the wind on I-80, when a truck passes you going the other way, you're never sure you're staying on the road or being blown off.

No wonder you were having problems.

I 80 is a four lane. If trucks were passing you going the other way, close enough for their turbulence to bother you, you must have been going the wrong way!

I 80 is the truckers hiway, I think. At night, the sky is lit up for a long ways, from their headlights.

I don't really enjoy driving on I 80.

And once in awhile, there are some trukers who are a pain, but mosat of the time, it's the other vehicles who seem to be hard to drive with and around.

IMO

I held my own on I-80. I chose fast local vehicles to follow and just kept up with the chosen vehicle all the way to Rock Springs the first day and another vehicle in the morning all the way to Provo.

I can see your no rookie.

Heck, I-80 is my back door here, well, about 3 miles away, and yes, it is a truckers road.. Around here at least they never stop.. When I used to drive across South Dakota in the middle of the night it was a bit different, not a lot of truck or car traffic on 90 at 3am.... Generally would start picking back up at sunrise, which was generally near the Minn/Wisconsin border... Don't think I could drive like that... After about 12 hours in the car now I am shot.. Of course, we have to stop ever 3 hours or so for the kids to get out and stretch their legs... At least we got to stop at a neat little zoo in Kansas when we drove out to Colorado last year.

Nothing was quite as lonely as the stetch of highway going South towards Denver in Wyoming..... It was snowing lightly, couldn't eve see lights at any ranch sites and might have seen a car every 30 minutes.. Were driiving to Denver so we could fly down to Miami with the dog... Last time I was on a plane, 1997 I think... I hate flying.
