You also do not put our national debt into perspective. Since Bush became President the national debt has increases by say 3 Trillion, every one of the past presidents say since Reagan and including Clinton have seen the National debt rise 1 or 2 Trillion dollar under their watch.
Bush has by no means been the spender I wished him to be, but he is not as bad as you make him out to be. You have to look at it in proper perspective. First off a Trillion dollars is not what it was say back in the 80's when Reagan was President. Our Gross national Product has grown along with the National Debt so a number that seems so large is not as large when you compare it larger economy we have now.
Then you have to look at the 3 trillion increase in the debt under Bush, how much of it was interest that is snowballing out of control because of the past debt of other presidents. Or how much of its increase is caused by Social programs created by other Presidents? Because the majority of national debt is owed internally between government accounts. Only around 20% of our debt is international debt.
Then you have to look at the cost of 2 wars and catastrophe like Katrina that is paying out through social programs still to these victims.
Then you have to look at how many projects were allowed to go undone by Bill Clinton so he could keep his part of the national Debt looking smaller. How many road projects did he put off, how much military spending did he cut that needs to be added now, how many terrorist did he allow to attack us and he did nothing so he did not have to spend any money to do so. How much money would Bush have had to spend on to fight terrorist if Clinton would have destroyed Al Qaeda and Osama when he had the chance?
To say Bush bankrupted the country because 3 Trillion was added to the national debt in his 8 years is not an accurate statement. The picture is a lot larger than that, but simple minds have a hard time understanding the scope of things.
