Yes, it may snow in May in Nebraska. We received a nice half inch of rain during the night, and then four inches of new snow
was on the ground this morning. Our last two-year-old heifer calved unassisted during the night, but this morning the calf was chilled.
It is now spending time in the hotbox, and I have drenched it with powdered colostrum.

You mean you had to put down your coffee cup to help a newborn :p  ??? I couldn't resist :D

It snowed about 9 inches here last night... sure going to make for great grass IF it ever warms up!

Well on the bright side its going to make some good grass. Cold here but no snow rained during the night not a whole lot of rain. Monday night we got hit with some golf ball size hail. Dinged the wheat and hay ground but the corn just got planted about 3 days before that.

My precip report is about the same as Clarence has. Only it did snow briefly and had the ground white this morning but has melted now.

you are going to have more moisture than you know what to do with, Soapweed. :D to bad a person can't bottle some of it, and save it for later. :? just light rain on and off here today. i just got back from Belle Fourche and it was snowing pretty good down there.

I never figure the winter is over in this part of the Sandhills until May 20th. That is when I buy Petunias for our planters. Last year we got a frost the first part of June. I had to buy more Petunias. However, since "Global Warming" is supposedly taking place, I haven[t seen weather conditions, here, as radical as I have seen in long past before that term was ever dreamed up. I am pretty sure the winter 1935-36 is the coldest winter on record which was right in the middle of the worst drought in the past 100 years. We haven't seen anything like the "49 Blizzard" in the past 60 years, but I guess Al Gore and his friends aren't as old and can't remember the way things have been!

Snow didn't really amount to too much in Belle Fourche, but I hear tell that they had over 10" in Lead.....but they can keep it!! It was all melted by that afternoon in Belle Fourche....turned out to be a beautiful afternoon!

I'm envious of moisture in any form at this point. No measurable precip here yet this spring, and the grass has about stalled. Could be a tough summer.

That's tough, Silver. I can identify. I guess I always try to think that
each day that passes is one day closer to rain. FWIW. I've always
said that before I die, I would like to live some place where I could
truthfully say, "I wish it would stop raining." Haven't found
that place yet...

We made a quick trip to SD on Thursday. We go down from Bowman, ND
to Belle Fourche. Amazing the way the creeks are running and to
see standing water in the pastures and the barrow pits. We were thinking
that it's not as wet as last year, perhaps, but it's sure gonna be green
as far as the eye can see when the sun comes out!!! It finally did shine
nicely Friday.
