'So This is America': Veteran Ray McGovern Bloodied and Arrested At Clinton Speech

by Partnership for Civil Justice

From the Partnership for Civil Justice:

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt.

Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, "So this is America?" Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

Mr. McGovern is being represented by the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF). "It is the ultimate definition of lip service that Secretary of State Clinton would be trumpeting the U.S. government's supposed concerns for free speech rights and this man would be simultaneously brutalized and arrested for engaging in a peaceful act of dissent at her speech," stated attorney Mara Verheyden-Hilliard of the PCJF.

Mr. McGovern now works for Tell the Word, a publishing arm of the ecumenical Church of the Saviour in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

it has been happening for awhile seems dems don't even like it when they are outside in a designated area if the area can be seen by the revered leader..

Lonegan arrested in Cape May outside Corzine public meeting

The Associated Press is reporting that former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan was arrested Saturday minutes before Gov. Jon Corzine was to begin a public meeting promoting his toll increase plan.

Lonegan told the AP that he was outside the Middle Township High School in Cape May County handing out pamphlets with radio personality Seth Grossman and other Corzine opponents when they were confronted by police.

"The police officer said the governor doesn't want you handing out literature," explained Lonegan,

"We were told that this was private property," Lonegan said. "This was an all-out attack on freedom of speech."

After being handcuffed and taken to police headquarters, Lonegan and Grossman were issued summons' for defiant trespass and given a Jan. 31 date for Municipal Court before being released.

they were standing on a sidewalk outside the school owned PAcenter..

(Lonegan is the politician Christie is trying to be imitate )..

We can easily document a long history of abuse of freedoms by leading democrats..

I would think that someone that is 71 years old would know that it is extremely rude to stand up in a crowd when everyone is seated. I guess he didn't care about blocking the view of those sitting behind him. He doesn't look too roughed up to me. Alot of people that age bruise easily heck my mom looked worse then that after she would help move panels.

"they beat him up for being rude, and the bruises aren't from abuse, his son probably had him out working in the fields, because he was too cheap to hire someone a little younger and less frail"

Even my mom gets some bruises every once in awhile, because she is old and rude"

First amendment is NOT a right to be HEARD.
I have been to a few speaking engements and I was Listening I really didnt need to see to hear the message.
If he was trying to talk over her or jumping around then remove him. All he was doing was standing still and quite.

He was blocking others view by being a rude jackass. I was at a Vikings/Bears game a couple years ago. A few drunken bears fans stayed standing. I heard someone behind me say they texted the stadium security. A few minutes security showed up and one rude drunken bears fan was escorted out.

by the look of it he was a liberal democrat.. and they often do rude things..

but it was his right to stand, .. and the polite response would have been to just ask him to sit down or leave.

not rough the ol guy up.

BTW which is more polite.. asking him to sit down,

asking him to leave,

or pouncing on him and dragging him out?

I am not concerned with his political leanings. He was a rude jackass. He had no right to block others view. Again he doesn't look too roughed up to me.

If you are in the political arena, you dang sure better be able to handle rude jackasses. All she would have to done is told him she would love to meet and discuss his concerns as soon as she was finished. but remember the left has a tendency to not to want to listen to the other sides concerns. She dropped the ball.

Why should a rude jackass get a private meeting? That would just encourage other rude jackasses to do the same thing.

Nor does it entitle brutality of Sr citizens, was he asked to leave??? was he asked to set down???
If you would not MAKE you mom move panels she would not be bruised up, or was it really moving panels that caused her bruising,
Block your view of the TV did she????

Did you see the video, did you listen to witness"s who saw it? Or are you just condeming him for standing up?????
