They're now saying most of the snow will go south of us- but we'll get 10-15 Below nights Tuesday and Wednesday- and wind... Thats enough...
But it sounds like you folks south and east could get a full fledged March blizzard....

Low pressure cutting across the Plains for the Upper Midwest on Tuesday and Wednesday will strengthen explosively under instigation of a major arctic outbreak. The resulting major wrap-up storm will combine high winds, heavy snow and harsh chill in what could become a paralyzing blizzard.

The area of major snow impact will start with Nebraska and South Dakota and will stretch northeastward over much of Minnesota, northwestern Iowa, northern and western Wisconsin and western Upper Michigan. This area would include Minnesota's Twin Cities.

A sampling of what the worst of this storm could bring: over one foot of snow, wind gusting to 40-60 mph for up to 10 hours and AccuWeather.com RealFeel Temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees below zero. Needless to say, any travel would become tough, if not impossible. Airports would close as would schools.

Thanks for the "heads up." I don't like your message, but I do appreciate it. We will try to do the best preparing we can, and hope those ol' momma cows can cross their legs and stay "calfstipated" for a couple days.

Calfstipated, I like that one Soap! I'm glad I'm not calving here for another month or so. Last year I was just getting a good start in that May 1 storm, but at least it didn't hang around long.

Yep- my old cows aren't supposed to start til the 14th so I hope they cross their legs too - but the heifers are due the 10th (the night they're now predicting 20+ Below  )- and I've already got 8 that have came early...
I better make sure the propane tank is filled on the warming shed heater..

There is good news tho for us-weather boys are saying this will move east fast- and that we can expect near 30 by Thursday and then temps in the 40's-50's after that for awhile... :D

Looks like most of the snow will go south of me but we're going to get the below 0 temps. Makes me glad we don't start calving until April 1.

Another miserable night and day up here, strong winds and blowing snow, minus 30C windchill. Drifting is getting ridiculous. Saw 3 moose this morning heading across our place in a whiteout - looked like they were leaving the country!
High of -21C predicted for tomorrow then warming up. 15 day forecast shows we might have three days above zero before March 22. A straight week of snow showers too though and around -3C highs.

We are finally going to get some rain they’re saying. :???: I hope these weathermen aren't pulling our leg this time, otherwise they may show up at the short end of a long rope. Lying to a rancher about water is bad thing to do now with spring coming.

40 below with a noticeable air movement this morning. We have 4 calves from our heifer screwup now. Two neighbors are calving 500+ cows hot and heavy right now, several more with smaller herds. Wouldn't trade with them for anything.

No school buses here because of the windchill-it's a nice -35 before the wind. I wonder if the South Dakota lockout folks have some extra padlocks for some bull pens up here.

I think i'd have second thoughts if the moose were leaving

6 Below here- 15 mph NW wind and 25 Below Wind Chill...Winds are supposed to pick up today and switch to out of the east...
Temps supposed to drop to 15-20 Below tonight- with Wind Chills around the 40 Below number..
I'm sure glad my neighbor, who I've been wintering his cows for, and who's cows are due to start any minute laid off from his off farm job for a week and decided to stay and help babysit momma cows...Will make things easier for me....

5 degrees here this morning. Wind @ 16mph makes a -14 windchill.
It snowed off and on in the night, but I have no idea how much
snow we got. Storm won't be over til Tuesday noon.
Our cows start calving March 20; but we always get some around
March 14.

I just hope and pray that this spring isn't a repeat of last year's cold, wet, and miserable spring. From looking at the main page of weather.gov, I cann't believe the Dakota's are getting slammed...again. My aunt and uncle who farm in East River SD are due to start calving the end of the month.

Try our temps, Sunday -23 C, Monday night -27 C and tonight a wonderful, bracing -31 C. So far the cows are keeping their tails tucked pretty good, but I don't know how much longer they can last. Got 40 showing real, real heavy
