67% of Nebraskans are against the health care bill... Nelson's office is flooded with ads and notes saying if he votes for this bill he will be voted out of office... And I think they will do that very thing...

The outfits I am mad at are the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses). They are both usually intelligent and conservative thinking organizations. In the last election, they endorsed Democratic candidate Ben Nelson over his Repuplican opponent Pete Ricketts. Not that their endorsement probably mattered all that much, but if Pete Ricketts had been elected, I'll bet he wouldn't be voting for this flim-flam health-care bill.

There are the grand thinkers of the world who maintain a lofty position and loudly proclaim, "I don't vote for the party; I vote for the person." This always sounds so eloquent and "visionary" but it is B.S. in real world politics. When the chips are down, the Democrats hang together and the Republicans hang together. Any citizen of this country just as well figure out if their basic ideals are more Democrat (liberal) or Republican (conservative), and then vote a straight party ticket. As far as needing a third party to clutter up conditions, we don't. The Republicans just need to get their act together and get back to what their conservative thinking base needs for candidates.

"During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama said several times that he intended to negotiate health care reform publicly. In fact, he said, he'd televise the negotiations on C-SPAN, with all the parties sitting at a big table. That way, Americans would be more engaged in the process and insist on real change.

"That's what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are, because part of what we have to do is enlist the American people in this process," Obama said at a debate in Los Angeles on Jan. 31, 2008." -- Politifact, Updated July 10, 2009

"The notion of televising negotiations behind a health care revamp was so central to Obama's campaign promises of change and openness, however, that it became part of his stump speech as he traveled the country in 2007 and 2008.

He'd describe how televised deliberations would take place around a big table, with seats filled by doctors, nurses, insurers and other interested parties. As president, he'd joke, he'd get the biggest chair.

"Not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN," Obama explained in a Democratic debate in Los Angeles in January 2008, in language similar to many of his campaign stops.

However, the two biggest deals so far — industry agreements to cut drug and hospital costs — were reached in secret." -- McClatchy, July 9, 2010

Actually, the whole country should be embarrassed. Especially anyone who voted for the Enabler-in-Chief. But, since they don't speak out against this and continue to hide out and pretend that they're not here, I suppose that means that they support this tyranny.

In fact, I seem to recall it being described here as "backslapping" when someone doesn't speak out. How long will you Obama supporters hide out and pretend you're not here and continue "backslapping" your guy?

Edited to correct: I should have pointed out that when she was here, Alice had the courage and integrity to admit that she has trouble with this.

Had to share this letter...yes its from Michelle Milkin but I LOVE the letter LOL
Tex I agree alice did a time or two say something was wrong with the way things were going.

Dr. Becky Hollibaugh of Friend, Nebraska e-mailed me her message for sellout Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) this morning:

Hello Michelle:

I’m a family practice doctor in Nebraska. I sent the following (angry,I admit) letter to Senator Nelson. I urge your readers (from Nebraska and elsewhere) to do likewise, in their own words!

Dear Senator Nelson:

I send this message under “Tort Reform” because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out. I will dedicate
every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election. The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can’t wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your “compromises” on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly (on-little-legislative-cat’s-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won’t wuss-out on this issue!

I know you won’t give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I’m a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn’t slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and ‘Nanny’ Pelosi will NOT be forgotten.

Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and ‘diagnose’ the problem, then charged another $180 to ‘fix’ the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit. Thank you for securing such a ‘lucrative’ rate for me! Thank you so much for making me–someone with 8 years of education!–make less than a mechanic or appliance repair technichian. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent.

You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist-coddling coward.

Sincerely,
Becky F. Hollibaugh, D.O.

You can't put it all on Nelson. He's not a whore......he's a pimp. He got the rest of the nation to pay for special favors to Nebraska in order to buy his vote. We should all remember this if our senators and representatives for for a bill that contains this kind of crap.

At least Nebraska got something out of this abomination. South Dakota senator Tim Johnson showed his true colors and gave it up for nothing.

I won't comment on the good Dr's letter because she is certainly entitled to her opinion. However, I have a question about her saying she gets $35 from Medicare for an office visit I assume. My question is, does Medicare pay differently from state to state? I looked up one of my bills from one of my Drs. He billed $125, Medicare approved $92 and paid him about 80% which is what they pay I believe. It came to $72 and some change which was then submitted to Tricare and they paid the rest.

You are correct schnurrbart- Medicare pays differently from state to state and differing regions....There is a provision in the health care bill to even that out more- and bring each area more to the standard "going rate"....

I visited the Dr. in May and the charge was $55.00 and between Medicare and insurance it looks like all but about $5.00 was paid. I don't get that much for a service call on a dishwasher. ( was given a perscription for Celebrex, which I quit after 5 days because it almost killed me, If I had taken it another week I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed,)
As for the Dishwasher call the Dr. had: A serviceman came probably from Lincoln, a distance of 40 miles, apparently replaced the motor, which would take about an hour, probably 4 times the time the Dr. spent on the patient. Cost of the motor maybe around $150.00, maybe not that out of line.
