Oldtimer said:Sounds like you could be in line for another one come about the weekend--anyway they think it will stay south of us, so that usually means the Miles City - Billings- South Dakota area...Weather boys say it could have a lot of moisture.....
I would just as soon it did- finally drying up around here a little bit, and getting rid of some of the ice- first calf came here at my place yesterday about a week early...Actually weather has been about perfect calving weather lows 15-25 highs 30-40--- little wind and just a few little snow squalls....
Was checking cows over at my partners place this morning- had 4 new ones there - But 5 big old bald eagles sitting out there in the middle of the cows....I know they're getting the afterbirths, but the size of them things still gives me the creepys with them little calves.......

Soapweed said:We probably got seven or eight inches of snow. The ground is warm, so it kind of settled as it came. Some drifting occurred, so it was possible to get stuck if you drove into the wrong places. Quite a few calves had to be born in the barns yesterday and last night. Today the wind went down and it warmed up enough that calves could again be born outside. The moisture is very welcome, as conditions lately have been quite dry and dusty.

Been many a times that the hubby has had to watch and pray as a group of bald eagles "wander" around the calving mamas!! Not much fun...you never realize how big these birds can get til you see them circling a calf!![]()
