The market has fallen 3 to 5 dollars cwt. in the last 2 weeks but I decided to sell anyway. Could get worse, who knows. The last sale in Valentine NE was so hot I figured I would sell as soon as possible before the price went down, not soon enough. I had 2 loads of steers just over 600# at about $1.12.

Usually I push my calves after weaning and they usually weigh 750# or so by now, but last year I told myself I would never do that again because it seems that you never get paid for the weight you put on. Today was a good example of that. Steers weighing from 550# to 750# dollared out on the average of about $685 per head give or take a little. The extra feed and pounds invested was for nothing.

I still have all my corn in the bin, now if that was just worth something.
