Spellings never said that she intended to replace schools with vouchers then did she ff. You're a typical liberal. Don't let the truth bother you though.

I didn't claim she said she wanted to replace public schools. The truth is that she was a strong supporter of the voucher program in Texas. She's a strong supporter of the voucher program as Sec of Education. Even as the Dept of Education report was released last year that showed that kids in private schools did no better than kids in public schools, she was on the road pushing vouchers. When reporters asked her about the report, she hadn't even read it. But she didn't let it stop her from pushing vouchers. She hasn't said she wants to replace public schools, but that's what a voucher program is designed to do and she's pushed it for her entire time in office. I know the truth and so do you.

I was thinking about what a disaster Bush has been for this country this morning. Things that used to work: FEMA, the EPA, Medicare, the Fed, our justice system, mining safety, our military, to name a few, don't work now. The list goes on and on and the problems are based on two things. Bush's belief that government is bad and human greed. Many of his appointees are in departments that they don't think should even exist! Margaret Spellings, Bush's Sec of Education, is outspoken in her belief that vouchers should replace public schools, even though her own agency has test results showing public schools are as effective as private schools funded by vouchers. A HUD secretary has said he won't give contracts to anyone who didn't support Republicans in the last election. Alberto turned Justice Department into a political wing of the Republican party. Who would have ever thought that John Ashcroft would be held up as a shining example of what an AJ would be? Retired General (and Bush apologist) Richard Myers' daughter runs ICE. She was such a poor nominee, that Bush couldn't even get her approved by the Republican Congress!

And the Fed has opened our central financial vein to financial bloodsuckers who are about to go bankrupt on Wall Street. We know those guys are either incompetent or crooks, depending on how you want to spin it, yet they are virtually free to draw on our country's financial reserves at will!

It's truly mind boggling and I don't see that anything will get better for years. Bush certainly isn't going to change his ways at this late date. Any laws Congress may make about the Fed have to get through Bush's veto and then his AG has to enforce them. That's not going to happen. Congress can't bring the troops home from Iraq. That's the Commander In Chief's responsibility. So we'll keep pouring money down the drain there. Very depressing all around.

One of the main points to vouchers is that it puts "Competition" and "Freedom of Choice" in to the equation, which is where public school teachers (NEA) don't want to go.....

...and just like the Haditha trial and your hero John Murtha, when the truth comes out, you run and hide rather than admit you were lying.

There's the quote. I didn't say Spellings SAID anything. She's worked for and with Bush for years and years and years. Another croney that he's put into a job. She's supported vouchers for years and the father of vouchers says they will/should replace public schools. I never, ever said that SHE SAID they should replace them. But keep twisting in the wind.

I know it's a surprise to you, but some country folks are smart enough to know the truth when they see it. Others, like you, will stick with a lie, no matter how many facts are presented. Look at George W. Bush and Dick Cheny. Just last week, Cheney was till trying to tie Iraq to 9/11. That was such an effective lie, he just can't let it go.

Show us the facts proving that Margaret Spellings is outspoken in her belief that vouchers should replace public schools then and let all us country folks decide who the liar is.

You don't represent "country folks." They're better than you. They have a heart, sympathy for the poor and weak.

But we'll kep it simple and go on, if you wish. Will you agree that Marget Spellings is outspoken in her support of school vouchers because I can find plenty of articles about her supporting them in Texas.

I didn't start a discussion with you to try to find agreement. I pointed out you lied.

Why should a poor person be forced to send their child to an inadequate school, in a substandard district?

I support a poor person's right to choose where they send their child to school..

and I support the right of the government to have a fair standardized test to ensure the child is being taught at that choice school..

your closed minded agenda of forcing a poor child to struggle in a substandard public school is not very progressive.. or even liberal.

no wonder liberals hate being called liberal.. they know the definition and it seldom fits.. their closed minded agenda of state sponsored indoctrination.

Former Georgia congressman Bob Barr is running for the nomination of the Libertarian Party for President. He is likely to inherit a lot of the enthusiastic support Ron Paul (who ran for President on the Libertarian ticket on 1988 and came in third with over 400,000 votes) had. Barr is likely to drain off more Republican votes from John McCain than Ralph Nader will drain off from the Democratic nominee. Many traditional Republicans don't like McCain and don't trust him and may see a vote for Barr as a way to send a message to the Republican party. After what happened in Florida in 2000, few Democrats are going to be willing to throw their vote away this time. Don't put too much stock in statements like "If {Hillary | Barack} doesn't win the nomination, I'm staying home." It's all bluster. By November most will hold their noses and vote for the Democrat.

If you don't know anything about the Libertarians, check them out on Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_Party_(United_States)
or
http://www.lp.org/issues/platform_all.shtml

It is by far the largest third party in America, has run candidates for President in the past nine elections and has 600 party members holding local office around the country. It also has a consistent platform that it has had for decades emphasizing free markets, free trade, and the basic idea that consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want to if it doesn't directly hurt anyone else (such as own a gun, visit a prostitute, or have an abortion). It is already on the 2008 ballot in more than half the states and is working on the rest. In a close election, it could be a factor.

fff, Sit down to an old fashion root cause analysis. Put it in the confirm/refute format. Do you have first hand knowledge? Do you have concrete evidence?

All I have is media coverage from the press and from television. There is no way to get through the bias, from both sides. A DA couldn't touch this if it were a traffic ticket. There is no way to confirm anything nor is there a way to refute. Nothing goes through the flow charts or matches the required steps, even with evidence both ways from the native witnesses. If it did, we could start naming liars on one side of the other.
