Last weekend we moved the cattle across the allotment in our annual rotation. Anytime spent at the ranch and a horseback is one of my favorite things to do. Here's my Grandparents place that my Aunt now owns. I always can remember the visits I've had with folks passed on while setting around that old concrete step.

The veiw from the porch at the ranch. Early June has the desert dressed in green.

Looking north from the cow camp. It's been a fine year for moisture thus far.

We rode out into pasture three looking for cows. This much water in our country is why they settled all those years ago. It is worth more than gold! What looks like a tiny creek is a lifeline to the ranch.

The granite has been shaped in lots of pretty ways.

Like a shelf of good books or folded hands? It's fun to look at but a challenge to ride in.......unless ya know the trails!

Had some company. Wish he would tell me where the cows are hiding!

You find them in ones and twos in our country. 10 head is a bunch most of the time. Found this pair in the nosebleed section.

Ya just start them off the ridges and keep looking. Reba thinks she spots something.

Flowers amongst the granite.

Even the barrell cactus was showing off.

We got 62 the first day. We had to take them down and around the low country to go east to the next pasture on the rotation.

Phil was riding drag with a knothead snapping pictures.

Away we went through the sage and the cedars.

My mare.

We spent the evening looking for wayward cows. Keeping them down isnt easy. So we went high looking for them. No cows found in "Hard-to-beat" canyon but the scenery was nice.

A cedar in sillouette.

Sundown was gold-plated pretty!

WOW! The color's on God's sky are amazin'!

Another shot of the fireworks. Sitting in the cool of a desert evening seeing sites like this is my definition of perfection.

Many thanks Lord, for a fine day!

Day two we spent looking for the other half. Lots a grass but few cows.

We looked high and low and inbetween!

7 in one bunch all paired up is cause for celebrating! I drank a lukewarm Pepsi from my saddle bags.

When we did the math after riding most of the day, we'd picked up 31 more. Yipee!

Puttin' em' through the gate.

We found more cows scattered where they like to go. Gives a guy a reason to go back as quick as he can. No cell phone coverage or power or people (Most of the time). It's heaven on earth. Thought I'd leave ya with one last shot of a spring cactus in all her glory. Enjoy ya'll! :D
