For those of you who say I only post negative threads, pay attention. This is a good thing. Link below:

"After a decade of decline and near destruction during the rule of Saddam Hussein, new satellite images show that Iraq's fabled marshlands of Mesopotamia, considered by some to be the original "Garden of Eden," are recovering at phenomenal speed, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) said today."

Boy that must have really hurt, for you to come across some good news,
but what I commend you most for is sharing it here, and else where,

Is this the same marshes Saddam drained to punish the Shia people that sided with US in the first part of the Gulf War?

Now it would be of great interest to see a story on how well the Troops are improving life in Iraq..

By all means get out there on the net and find one.

on the ag front

The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Agriculture Reconstruction and Development for Iraq (ARDI) program recently began a crop survey in Erbil governorate that will measure pasture, fallow and planting areas and the production of the main winter crops, wheat, barley and winter vegetables. In addition to informing policy decisions, this survey will improve the MOA's procedures for deriving area and production estimates.

I had a slight problem with the overwhelming results so I will just post a link for another site that has "started" to compile a extensive list
