Saturday afternoon we went and ate Mexican food. Outside the cafe, they had these passion flowers growing on a trellis. I've seen them off and on thru the years growing around here in the wild, never on a trellis tho. I WANT SOME!!!! Mr. Lilly's granny showed me the first one I ever saw, and I think it's gotta be the most beautiful flower that I've seen my whole life. You can also make jelly from the fruit they make. No idea what it tastes like, but I'm gonna give it a try if I ever get me some seeds.

As it would have it, after eatin, we were headed out to Lady Bird Johnson's Wildflower Farms. I just Knew they'd have the seeds. They didn't. But they do carry the live plants. (I was excited) then the lady told me.....we just sold our last one. I mean the person that was in line in front of me had just paid for it. How's that for bad luck LOL Anyway....I've located online a place to order seeds. So.....I'll grow em myself I guess.
We went out there for Chili fest. Anything and everything made from chili peppers. Along with "Johnny D and the Rocket 88's" haven't seen them in years. They played all evening. While we walked and tasted dips, salsas, jelly's, etc all with some kinda pepper in em. They had a few hot air balloons there, and did a balloon glow at dark thirty. Was really neat.

Gosh Lily, I guessed you'd be covered up with those Maypops ( another name for them) like we are.

They are about to take over my bull paddock. I mowed TONS of them up the other day!!!

Yeap she called em Maypops too. I don't know why I haven't seen many of them. Maybe I'm not at the right place at the right time.
I've done some readin on em online since we got home, and it says the plants usually only last 4 to 6 years, then die. But you'd think if there are any around, and they make fruit, the seeds would germinate and there'd be more of them. I ride the pastures pretty regular, and it's been probably 8 or 10 years since I seen any. Last one was right beside the cattle guard comin in our gate.
