A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona's new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora - Arizona's southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money.

The law, which took effect Jan.1, punishes employers who knowingly hire individuals who don't have valid legal documents to work in the United States. Penalties include suspension or loss of a business license.

"Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.

That's their problem. They've known for years that their country is such a crap-hole that people will leave with nothing but the clothes on their back. Maybe it's time they faced the music and quit pawning their problems off on us.

We've got millions of homeless people on our streets, what's Mexico going to do about them?

We've got Vets that don't get the medical and mental care that they need, what's Mexico going to do about them?

Our debt is 8 trillion and rising, what's Mexico going to do about that?

Our infrastructure needs a huge facelift. We've got roads and bridges that need replaced. What's Mexico going to do about that?

Someone needs to tell Pres. Caldarone this "wish list" and then he tell Bush...as it seems Bush only listens to what Mexico wants anyway.

Make it seem like it was their idea and we'll get it!!!

Ain't that right- and how sad :???:

GW's approval rating is probably higher in Mexico than it is in the States- or anywhere else in the world for that matter...

I watched a show the other day where they were discussing the US elections with many foreign correspondents- who commented the world is excited about the election and watching it closely...Because they know whoever wins will influence the direction of the nation and the world- and that they can't wait to get rid of GW   ....One British commentator noted that while Bush's approval rating is somewhere around 30% in the US- when they surveyed the UK and the European countries a few weeks ago- his popularity in every country was in the single digits- and he couldn't get 10% approval rating in any of them....

But he's probably got high ratings as El Presidente de North American Union with the folks from south of the border   :(
