Group Plans 'Terror Free' Gas Station in Omaha
Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Jan. 22: The country's first Terror-Free Oil gas station under construction in Omaha, Neb.
OMAHA, Neb. — The Terror-Free Oil Initiative is planning to open the nation's first "terror free" gas station in Omaha.

The Florida-based group claims U.S. dollars used to purchase gas made from Middle East oil funds terrorism. It urges Americans to only buy oil products that originate from countries that do not support terrorism.

The Terror-Free Oil station in west Omaha will sell gas from oil companies that do not do business in the Middle East. Signs calling for the use of non-Middle Eastern oil were up at the station today.

Spokesman Joe Kaufman says the station will open Feb. 1, with a grand opening scheduled for Feb. 12.

Other Terror-Free Oil stations are planned.

no you don't. it is the cesspool of middle America

Whoa up! I lived in Omaha for 10 years. Like any city, there are spots that I wouldn't want to live in, but for the most part, it's a pretty clean city. Good people, great restaurants at affordable prices, world-renowned zoo, afforable living, steady economy, low crime. I wouldn't want to move back simply because I had enough of the city, but I wouldn't have any problem with my kids going back there for college.

When I was working undercover there back in the early 80's I think I got to see every part of the dregs of that city- and much of the time I was the minority...Wasn't the image I had thought of Nebraska....
But I did get to spend a couple weeks at the Ak-Sar-Ben racetrack-- now that I could get accustomed to...

I always try to buy my gas at a Conoco, as of a couple years ago they did not get their oil from the Mid East. Things change as oil companies buy each other etc.... I use to have a list of stations that get their oil from non Muslim nations.

The government has a website that tells each month how many barrels a company buys and from where they get it have to look for that also.

Yeah, I'd do business with somebody like that too, OT. Really unbelievable, isn't it? That a business can take the initiative to try to satisfy a demand from consumers concerning the origin of a product?

Consumer-driven...no whining for the government to force businesses to label a product as to origin. The marketplace at work. Satisfying consumer demand. Without big government intervention.

Yeah, OT. I agree with you - great idea.
