The Canada Border Services Agency announced Tuesday the seizure of 18 firearms, along with weapons and ammunition, at the port of Coutts, Alberta, across the border from Sweetgrass. The seizure was unrelated to a Sept. 8 security incident that closed the border for hours.

In a press release, the agency says that on Sept. 8, three U.S. residents arrived at the port of Coutts heading to Alaska in a pick-up truck and travel trailer.

When asked by CBSA officers if there were any firearms in the vehicle or trailer, the driver declared that he had seven long guns.

During routine examination of the vehicle, officers found contraband hidden under the travel trailer's bed, including seven rifles, eleven handguns twelve smoke grenades, one incendiary grenade, nine over-capacity magazines, four flares and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Michael John Dorsey, 42, of Alaska, was arrested and turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Border Integrity section, and faces six Criminal Code and two Customs Act charges.

Last week, the border crossing was closed for several hours after a reported suspicious package was received at the Port of Coutts.

YEP-- those that try to push or try to evade/slip by the law are what brings on more negative rules- inspections- and ID criteria...

20 years ago before GW put in the Patriot Act- we worked back and forth across the borders all the time-with all kinds of illegals being shipped south across the line-- but that has all disappeared now...

Al Quaeda and Osama won again !! :( :(

Bush my ass....the pariot act was introduced in 2001 and consponsored by both republicans and democrats....an extremely bi-partison bill. Bush simply signed it.

But you're right...Al Quaeda and Osama did win another round....maybe if BHO would attend a few intelligence briefings he would have been aware of what was about to happen. He IS the president as he has reminded many.

I have no disagreement- the Patriot Act- in moments of fear was supported by both parties- Bush promoted- totally backed by his Daddy's lineup of neocon advisors (Cheney/Rumsfeld- that wanted to finish the war they started but GHW was too smart to do----But that doesn't mean it was legal- or Constitutional=- or should become the law of the land forever and ever....I support the Congressmen/Senators that wish to rescind it...

Every day that our freedoms and movements is shut down or further taken away from us --- Al Quaeda and Osama win (even tho Obama had him killed---- his/Al Quaeda's affect on the US law has restricted us more than anything in the past 60+ years )...

Only 12 Senators voted against extending the USA-PATRIOT Act
Here are their names
:

1.Max Baucus (D-MT
2.Mark Begich (D-AK)
3.Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
4.Tom Harkin (D-IA)
5.Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
6.Mike Lee (R-UT)
7.Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
8.Patty Murray (D-WA)
9.Rand Paul (R-KY)
10.Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
11.Jon Tester (D-MT)'
12.Tom Udall (D-NM)
If you see your Senator listed here, maybe it’d be a good idea to contact them and let them know that you appreciate their support for civil liberties. And it’d probably be even better to contact the ones you don’t see listed here to let them know that they lost your support.

If we live forever under the Government restrictions and fear that came from 9/11 -- then Al Quaeda and Osama Bin Laden ( even in death) have won.....
2001- was 11 years ago !!!!!!!

Restrictions? I can do any damn thing I want to today, just as I could pre 9/11. Sure, it ain't as easy to get on a plane, but I don't fly very often. I don't need to go to restricted areas of airports unless I have a ticket. I was damn glad to stop before I drove across Hoover Dam a couple of years ago and have the boys look in and under the vehicle.

Old Whiskeybreath, if you don't have anything to hide, what is the problem? I admit, I get nervous if I see Hadji's who are wearing man-dresses and have turbans on their haids, whether they are in LA, North Carolina, or south Texas. I also believe that much of the Middle East should be turned into a glass covered parking lot. Why? Because the ONLY THINGS AQ, OBL, Zawahiri, and the rest of the man-dress wearing butt sharks understand is death and violence. To solve the problem, they ALL must die.

You and your "Dear Leader" can apologize for America all you want. You have your Depends to help you live in fear. Sig Sauer allows me not to.

You apparently don't ranch or have not heard of the need for hay around the country-- which has been greatly restricted because of border inspections imposed under the Patriot Act...

YOU CAN FIND IT BUT YOU CAN'T GET IT HOME

Finding hay for clients has been a challenge the past few weeks and looks as though it will continue to be a struggle. The drought circle is big so competition is keen and freight has become a huge factor. Ranchers are at their wits end trying to decide if they should buy high dollar hay or sell down and already sold down cow herd.

Get this, our neighbors to the North have a bumper hay crop and have had for several years. There in lies the problem. They haven't had a need to transport hay so consequently all the Canadian hay truckers have found other ways to make a living. Canadian hay raisers can't find trucks to move the product South. U.S. truckers are finding it difficult to get licensed and legal for crossing the border. Have they been quilty of taking business away from the folks up North? I think not.

But I do find it interesting that Billings, Montana can have the driest year in over 66 years and 250 miles North of us hay is in abundance yet we can't get it across the border where it is so badly needed. Wouldn't you know it, our congressmen are busy running for office while our trucks are standing still. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have cows starving on one side and hay rotting on the other side of an imaginary line when you're in the cow business.

http://billpelton.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

And currently we have several Congressmen (including Montanas) running around wanting to give Homeland Security more authority- including absolute authority on all government land within 100 miles of the border... :(

This so funny.
First he brags because obama is the reason he gets high prices for his farm products, now it is Bushs fault for the high price of feed.
He still hasn't assigned blame for higher food prices, but with obama raising prices of farm goods it has to be obamas fault for high food prices.

Just freakin nuts, just freakin nuts I tell ya.

But you are paying much more because of the inspection costs...Both your customers and the Canadians selling the hay are taking it in the shorts because of those costs and crossing rules...

Looks like "Hay" inspection cost is $86.00.

So you do understand why ID's should be required for voting, "those that try to push or try to evade\slip by the law are what brings on more rules and inspections- and ID criteria."

I truly is good to see that you agree on something so important :D

Some claim they have paid as much as $800 a load...

I'm not sure- as I have enough feed put up that we haven't had to buy any- but I doubt Bill Pelton and those that posted that article would be talking that way if it was quite restrictive and costly..

Years ago- hay went back and forth both ways...Earlier it was Canadians coming down buying American hay- much of it put up in the Milk/Missouri River Valleys...Then later after Canada lost the Crow Rate- and Saskatchewan subsidized Canadians to take all their land out of crops and put it into hay/grazing-- it was cheap hay coming down out of Canada....And when I mean cheap- I mean $20 Ton...

And Ranchhand-- Canadians have been seizing firearms at the port for as long as I can remember... They almost have kittens if they find a hollowpoint cartridge (they call them dum-dums)...Even 30 years ago you could get your whole vehicle torn apart if you were heading north and missed a 22 hollow point round under your seat when you cleaned your vehicle...

So Bush had all this power. If he had the power the left tries to say he does then obama would never have gotten in as prez.

Just like obama is to be credited with high farm product prices but yet the high price of food has to be at GW's hands.

The idiot left never ceases to be blathering fools
