The Big Boss came to the power plant yesterday and dropped a fact that just kinda blew me away. Seems our little berg of 1,000 souls managed to use 17 million gallons of water during the month of June. That would also include plenty of lawn watering and the watering of gardens, etc. There are no private wells inside the city limits.

That sounds like a lot, but consider this...if a feedlot has 100,000 head in it, during this time of year they are easily using 1,000,000 gallons of water a day.

Any way you bottle it, that's a LOT of water!

Not much of that water gets back into the aquifers either.

I read 30-40 years ago that water would be a problem one day in the U.S. I just didn't understand....

Doesn't ALL water used eventually sink into water tables, or evaporate into the air to be 'recycled' as rain over and over again?
