While you were paying close attention to the "Rich" having to pay more taxes you got hoodwinked. Remember hearing how they were out for the "Middle Class Working" folks? They got it too.

The budget deal passed by the U.S. Senate today would raise taxes on 77.1 percent of U.S. households, mostly because of the expiration of a payroll tax cut, according to preliminary estimates from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center in Washington.
More than 80 percent of households with incomes between $50,000 and $200,000 would pay higher taxes. Among the households facing higher taxes, the average increase would be $1,635, the policy center said. A 2 percent payroll tax cut, enacted during the economic slowdown, is being allowed to expire as of yesterday.

Mike,

I don't agree that the social security tax cut should be extended. This was passed as sort of stimulus, but the benefit went to people that already have jobs and were working. It just bled a lot of funds out of social secuity trust fund making the day when there is no more money in it come a lot sooner.

I am on social security, but not dependent on it by any means. Our government is not on our side.

I agree Cowpuncher-- it was time to put the SS payroll tax back in place...You are right it was meant only as shortterm stimulus-- but needs to continue to work toward keeping SSI solvent ...

I too am on social security, while not being dependent on it-- and feel I earned every bit of it after paying into for 50 years...

Still in all, last night while Nancy was telling everyone that the Dems were doing all of this for the "Middle" class, and that taxes WERE NOT going up for them.............................they did.

Worse part about the whole deal was........NO CUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys really think this money is kept separate?

When I do the right thing.. I admit it even if it is a bitter pill to swallow...

like ,... saying,... the payroll tax cut should never have been put in place to begin with...

\for ---- sake... is it to much to ask our elected leaders to be a bit honest and tell the truth..

the fact is taxes are going up on almost all working class folk..

and when their check is a bit short and the rent is a bit overdue... and times are a bit tough... Do you think they will be as forgiving when the figure out the truth?

I wouldn't be... I can't wait to see that poll results...

Yep; A few people are just startig to figure some of these things out.

Here's one:
Social security and medicare tax is only on earned income. but they have found a way to tax Capital gains and earned interest for Medicare. They take more from your Social Security to pay for medicare with something called Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI).

About a month ago I received a letter from SS, it said I would receive a cost of living increase in Social Security in 2013. Then the next paragraph explained that as I had Capital gains in 2011 my MAGI was now in a different category more would be taken from my SS check for medicare. I will actually receive a $92 smaller Social Security check each month then I did in 2012. No, I am not really complaining, I am not entirely dependent on SS, but it does help out with all the added costs and expenses I have today that were not here before Obama.

Don't try to tell me that we will be better off, It is just shifting the way we pay for some things our politicians say we need.
