Southerner Weather

I don't know how you southerners can take that heat and humidity....After our weeks of rain- the temp started warming up...Friday we moved cows to summer pasture- did it early and not too bad except for the mucky conditions around the corrals on some we had to cut out- yesterday we branded the partner cattle- and temp was about 75 with little breeze and partly cloudy, about perfect...

But this morning the humidity was 97% and temp 70 at 6AM- we worked some bulls-- By noon now its 83 degrees down here in the river valley, muggy, no wind, and I feel like I've worked for 24 hours straight....Rung out and soaking wet- would've peeled down to my shorts except I'd probably of run the bulls, my son, and his buddy all away

Ya drink lots of water, and take lots of breaks. Around here, when we are out buildin fence or whatever ranch chore it might be for the day. Work 30 minutes to an hour, and then stop and down a bottle of water and sit in the shade for about 10 or 15 minutes....then go at it again. We pretty much have no breeze in the summer time (all the trees) so if you are blessed with one you really appreciate it.

Oh....and I have been known to shred pastures with ......well lets just say....not alot of clothes on. Not nekid mind you....but close LOL oh, and when I do that........I hafta wear lots of bug spray!!!!! Can't skeer the skeeters away no matter how hard I try

And I avoid neighborin fences when I do this........I got caught once.....NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

What...83 degrees...is that ALL????   Geezzz, that usually what it is here when you wake up in the AM!!!

Yeah, bush-hoggin in the nearly buff is about par for the course here in GA. You'll end up with the weirdest tan lines possible!!!

Drink lots of gatorade, sweat a lot and if you move fast enough at whatever you do...you'll create a breeze and be just fine.

I LOVE IT!!!

We've had low humidity, about 30% or so, with this drought and it's been awful!! We got a wee bit of rain yesterday and hopefully we're headed back to the 97% humidity!!! Bring it on!!

I remember finishing up combining a fescue field 4 or 5 years ago. It was the first week of July, the heat was unbearable without a breeze. The combine air went out around 2:00. I needed to finish up the field so I could move the next morning. I remember running west , into the afternoon sun feeling like a frog under a fruit jar on blacktop. That sun coming through the front glass was miserable. Dust boiling in the open door and me sweating like Bill Clinton trying to tell the truth. Man that was a hot afternoon. I've ran without air before but that was the worst. I bet the humidity was 95 and the temp was up that high or higher. 4 or 5 that afternoon was the closest I ever came to having a heat stroke. My heart felt like it was beating 200 times a minute.

Now Lilly...Most of our tractors have a/c and heat...notice I said most! The poor mowers on the hay crew don't get that luxury, but like ya said they can make their own breeze as long as they are a moving. I will never forget the humidity ya'll have down there even in October! I about died!...I can't imagine yur summers...I like our dry temps...and besides..my hair can't take all that humidity..lol

That's why my hair is either in a braid, or wadded up in a knot on top of my head most of the time.....Ain't no point in tryin to curl it.....cuz soon as ya walk out the door it's flat again anyway.

(Ya'll......it wasn't hot at all in October when she was here......it was nice  )

It's really warmin up here now, and humidity is way up there close to 100% since all the rain. Wake up at 7am, and walk outside and it's already hot n muggy. Ahhhhhh summer!!!

I liked it too but it was Red Robin who said it not me

We et enough hot weather here that I couldn't imagine living in it for much more than we have to.. 90's with 90% humidity is not good times in my opinion..Even worse is when it tips 100 degrees with that humidity... We get it ffom time to time and I would take the cold weather we get over that any day..Don't like it when it is so hot you start sweeting before you get dried off from your shower.

Lilly my tractor is open station as well. It sure doesn't bother me to run an open stations tractor. That cab with glass all around in the combine when the sun is getting low and shining in, makes you melt.
