Lilly,I am gonna hafta catch up on my reading posts, almost missed this, aint it funny what you run outa hay fields,I cant type good enough to list every thing I have run out, every thang from peacocks to zebra's some of these folks have filled the Hill country full of what they call exotics, when this ole country floods it usually takes out miles of fence and of course everything gets out, kinda interesting some times, other times not so interesting,I was looking for some cattle once in the back of my place and walked up to a stock tank, there were two of the biggest birds I ever saw,not ostriches I know what they look like, these were about as big and had long shaggy feathers with a long pointed beak, one of em probably the rooster started fluffin up at me like he wanted ta fight!! didnt take much of that for me to head back to the house and get my gun,but by the time I got back they were gone, probably a good thing I dont know if I coulda eat one of those big ole drum stix :D ............good luck
PS lil Lilly aint so lil anymore I hope you got your shot gun oiled

Yesterday I was out checking the cows, and I had the .303 beside me because we've had a problem with 'yotes. Anyways, one came afterv the quad, and four (4) were circling a calf.I put the clip in, took down the one that was following me, and picked off two of the other 4, tracked down and shot the other 2. I'm glad I was packing iron.

It was only 100 yards, and it was like shooting at anything else. there was only 2 running shots, and they were away from me, and I just put a stop to that.  8)

If you want to see a goo dshot, see my Grandpa. He can hit anything with fur, and anything without, and I've seen it. lol.

When I miss I say, "that's not what I was doing. I was aiming for that tree, hill, etc.,etc.etc.....
lol

Good one!! Mr. FH doesn't care to kill things, so he doesn't hunt much anymore. When he did hunt, he was good at it. He guided out of state hunters for years and did really well. He had to run some of those wounded bucks down too. Not much fun, but he was pretty fleet of foot in those days!! He didn't like for something wounded to get away. And he saw to it that they didn't.

Met alot of interesting people throughout the years, too.

For what it is worth, my experience with panther in the Everglades is that the eyes reflect green, not red. It is a brilliant green and is nearly a flourescent intensity of reflection.

I got the reflection from a 50 watt halogen spotlight from a cat about 60 yards away. Matter of fact, it was a cheap Harbor Freight light - bright, but cheap. Possibly the reason for the level of reflection was the brightness of the beam.

If panthers interest you, Google my name for articles about them or go to www.EvergladesInstitute.org.
