Speaking of clans.....

Like Northern Rancher, I too clicked on the thread titled "clan" in Bull Session, thinking it was about Scottish families. :) :) :) I wasn't expecting a rant, but it did make me think about the topic of family.

Speaking of such, for anyone else here who has a thousand years of oatmeal in their genetic makeup like I do, what clan do you come from? And what kind of adventures did they get into? Scottish history is full of those!

For me, it's the MacDonalds of the Isles. They were a tough bunch, involved in many a feud over the years. One time, a very very very long time ago, some MacDonalds were racing a rival clan to an island (can't remember which clan, but it might have been some McLeods) to claim it before they did. The agreement was that the first ones to lay a hand on the shore would claim it for their clan. When they got close enough, one of our bunch cut off his own hand and tossed it. They got the island. 8)

NR, What kind of adventures did the Fighting Gunns get into?

Clan MacBean

Our Lands were located on the south side of Loch Ness. There are several notible family groups, such as the MacBeans of Faillie, the MacBeans of Tomatin, the MacBeans of Pittanie, and the MacBeans of Kinchyle. It is the MacBeans of Kinchyle that the Chieftainship is passed through to our present Chief, James McBain of McBain - 22nd Chief of Clan MacBean.
