Probably should define something first:

Individual Ready Reserve

Most who enter the service through the delayed-entry program spend time in the Individual Ready Reserve while awaiting basic training. Also, if your active or reserve enlistment expires after four years, you may be put in the IRR until you complete six years total service.

In the IRR, you still can advance, compile points and years toward retirement and train annually, although it is not required. Since those in the IRR do not belong to any unit, it is up to the individual to complete the correspondence courses required for drill points and find a command that has the money to pay for annual training if they want to accrue points toward retirement.

As of Tuesday, nearly 22,000 of the 138,000 troops in Iraq were Marines.

The call-up will affect Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve, a segment of the reserves that consists mainly of those who have left active duty but still have time remaining on their eight-year military obligations.

Generally, Marines enlist for four years, then serve the other four years either in the regular Reserves, where they are paid and train periodically, or in the Individual Ready Reserve. Marines in the IRR are obligated to report only one day a year but can be involuntarily recalled to active duty.

To date, about 5,000 Army IRR soldiers have mobilized, and about 2,200 of those are currently serving, according to Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty, an Army spokesman. Of those 2,200, about 16 percent are volunteers, he said. A typical Army enlistment obligation is also for eight years.

According to Stratton, there are about 59,000 Marines in the IRR, but the Corps has decided to exempt from the call-up those who are either in their first year or last year of the reserve status. As a result, the pool of available Marines is about 35,000.

The deployments can last up to two years, but on average would be 12 to 18 months, Stratton said. Each Marine who is being recalled will get five months to prepare before having to report.

This is from Foxnews NOT Fox BIG difference.

OK yes its called INvoluntarily recall but you see they are STILL part of the Marines...which means they send you where they NEED you. They are getting a paycheck from the Marines should they not be required to do the job they signed up for?
You have the name of this topic right SPIN

I tell you what since the DISmissal, DISapperance  or maybe DISpresence :? (is that word? ) of one particular person on this site, kolanuraven has become more of a liberal spin doctor. On more than one occasion I have thought that kola was coming to her senses but here lately I'm beginning to really wonder.

Not enough troops? More being deployed? Violence in a war zone? Deaths in a war? Hurricances? Drought? Rain? No matter what the case poor old President Bush catches h#)) for it.

I bet gore could fix it all huh? :lol2:

I had to bring this up....I thought it quite hilarious

Here's some Aviation History for you:

You may remember that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claim an unidentified flying object with five aliens aboard crashed on a sheep/cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well known incident that many say has been covered up by the Air Force and the US government.

However, what you may NOT know, is that on March 31, 1948, nine months later, Al Gore was born.

Make sense now?

With Iran helping to stir the pot in the whole Middle East, we'd better do whatever it takes, because the alternative won't be good at all, IMO. Sounds as if the increased troup strength is starting to restore some sense of order, though.

Sad thing is....and history proves it...that there's NEVER been order ( or what we define as order) in that part of the world!

It's basically and " amoeba", never static , always redefining it's borders!

Yeah, the middle east and the Balkans of Europe have always had issues over the last 1000 years or so.. Of course, look far enough back and everyone has.. I highly doubt in our lifetimes that the middle east will ever have lasting piece.. When you are dealing with men women and children willing to strap bombs to them selves and blow them selves up, when rockets launched into neighborhoods kill other muslims with out a word of codemnation against the muslmis that did the attack.... I'll stop now... Looks like we might be getting some rain i a few minutes.
