We visited the Hill Country 6 or 7 years ago. It is beautiful country. My wife's father and step mother lived at Fredericksburg. He has since passed away but she still lives there.

We took an afternoon hike to the top of Enchanted Rock. It is one of the most unusual geological formations I've seen. I wish your picture showed if from a distance to get the full impact. It is like a giant dome of rock (granite?), not all that high but fairly smooth like walking on pavement.

Thanks for the pictures.

What is the fence with the ten wires built to contain?

Looking Southeast
I should've taken a picture approaching from north on FM 965, there's plenty of photo ops on that approach.
It's mighty beautiful country, I wish I was from that part of Texas, I guess it's just about everybody's favorite. Some friends and me hunt about 10 miles ATCF from Enchanted Rock. Gus has been going with me ever since he was big enough.

PS, there's alot of 8 and 10 wire fences , they used to raise alot of sheep and goats (wool and mohair)in that country, still do in parts where it's not "developed" up into Mini ranches, etc.

These are a couple pictures that I took from a trip last summer July '09

Now that's what I was talking about! Thanks to both of you Dust Devil and Lilly for showing everyone what this unusual formation looks like.

My sons and I hiked to the top of the "Rock" on a day that was close to 100 degrees. I only had my high-heeled, western boots along for footwear and I got the strangest looks from other sightseers along the way.

Those are quite the fences, not much would get trough them!
