Suppertime will be with the sun up for the next 7 months. Too bad I can't hardly ever quit just because the clock says I should eat.

Alzheimers patients many times get more disturbed, aggravated, agitated and everything else later in the day...My uncle that had it- couldn't sleep after the sun went down- while he was still able to he'd be up walking the halls at all hours of the night....They were able to control it some with meds..
If you ever want to visit with an Alzheimers patient- the mornings are usually best- as they usually are more like their old selves.....

I guess I never knew it caused any problems with Alz. patients either. Tell us what "sundowning" means or it's affects Mrs. Greg. Sounds interestin.

I love the time like it is now. More daylight in the evenin to get stuff done. Wish they'd leave it like this.

The term "sundowning" refers to people who become increasingly confused at the end of the day and into the night. Sundowning isn't a disease, but a symptom that often occurs in people with dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease.

So you can see how the time change will confuse an Alzheimer patient,lots of times this extends into the night,with sleeplessness,extreme agitation confusion to surroundings..... :( It often will continue until light the next morning. Often when sundowning starts this is when the individual is placed in a care facility because sundowning although hard on the sufferer is hell on the caregiver.{husband,wife,family member}

Sundowning can also happen on a dull dreary day.....hence a LONG day for all involved :(
