Maple Leaf Angus said:Good looking cattle, Denny. Seeing those babies gets a guy kinda excited about calving, but not for a while yet around here, please.
Lotsa bacon in the makin' too!
Do you ever have trouble with finding the calves in that brush?
Maple Leaf Angus said:Denny, what are your night time lows temperatures this time of year? Low enough for a few short ears, or not so bad?
Work Hard and Study Hard said:-15 below and their not in a barn, head to the brush and have a live calf. I like the heck out of that! It was -30 here last week and we put some in the barn but couldn't get them all in. What you have there is mothering ability and thats not something you can buy in a sale ring. If the wind isn't blowing and the barn isn't insulated it doesn't matter if you have them in or not. Of the 6 calves I tagged last thursday that were born in the barn 5 had frozen ears, i'm not sure why the other didn't.
