My daughter said that today she saw a sure sign that spring is here--two Indians carrying a space heater into a pawn shop
Better than any old groundhog!!

Today the sun came out and temp went from about 5 below this morning up to about 20...They are saying 30's by the weekend and 40's the first of the week.... :D

I was looking at a couple of the heifers the last few days- and noticed they were starting to bag up pretty good...Checked with my son- and found my oldtimers disease was working again- and that the AI heifers are scheduled to come earlier than I thought....He handled the AIing- and instead of the AI heifers starting the 14th- they are due around the 8th-and were bred to calve between the 8th and 14th-so decided with all the snow- I better put them in the big lot so I can watch them....

And as bad as my arthritis felt after working cows- I think those tribal folks know what they are doing- and a big weather change is in store....

Come on spring!!

Pulaski said we are in for a roller coaster ride before we get to the equinox. :?

At least the weather boys say a few sunny days of 30-40 coming up and the Accuweather 15 day forecast is for 30-40's thru the 11th...
I'd just like to see a few bare areas show up- so a guy would at least have a bare area to throw a calf on...

GLASGOW HAS NOW HAD 38 CONSECUTIVE DAYS THAT HAVE NOT CLIMBED
ABOVE FREEZING. WITH YESTERDAYS HIGH ONLY REACHING 20 DEGREES...THIS
STRETCH HAS SURPASSED THE JANUARY 1937 STRETCH OF 37 DAYS
.
THIS IS
FAR FROM THE ALL TIME RECORD OF 66 DAYS IN A ROW BELOW
FREEZING...SET IN THE 1977-78 WINTER. IF WE GO THE ENTIRE MONTH OF
FEBRUARY WITHOUT CLIMBING ABOVE FREEZING...IT WOULD BE ONLY THE 2ND
TIME THAT HAS HAPPENED. THE ONLY OTHER TIME WAS IN FEB 1922.

Hang on the warm is coming. Got up to the mid 40's today. Snow was starting to melt to the west of us. Hope it is a slow melt and not a sudden melt where it all runs down stream.

We have been on that roller coaster ride. 35 inches of snow in 10 days couple of weeks ago. Then 40's melting snow and mudd where the snow melted if you drove over it with the skid steer. Now back to the 20's. I truly believe thats why me and the wife are at each others throats night and day. Cabin fever if I HAVE EVER SEEN IT.

Sure glad her aim has been off when she has let loose of late with whatever was close and handy. Sure glad she don't own a gun!

Got a heifer in the barn right now that's busting at the seams got to go check her.

Our ground is so saturated I hope it melts off in a day and dries out all the mud from last fall but thats wishful thinking.

I'm glad that if I'm losing my memory- I'm not losing my eye...I was right about those heifers being close to calving- because this morning we had two heifers with calves- an In Focus daughter with a 83 lb bull calf- and a Bannon of Wye daughter WCR Mary 845U with a 73 lb heifer calf...

Both were AIed to OCC Magnitude- and 12 days early- and there are a few more look like they could come any day...

I had been a little anxious since Magnitudes calving ease numbers dropped- and BW raised since we AIed- and I had not heard anything about how long a gestation period to expect- but these sure came easy- and had a calving ease build...

Yep- I know what you mean....Just got warm enough here to melt some snow on the sidewalk- and when I went out about 2 to peek at the heifers I almost did a double axel and a couple of lutz's-- and I think I popped my back out of place again.....

Was out there in the middle of the night salting it down so Grandma didn't do any skating this morning.....We had heavy pea soup fog move in during the night- and heavy frost this morning- only 5 degrees- but the sun broke thru about 9 AM and the temp is up to about 12 now...

Our roads warmed up yesterday and the snow blew on them making them icy. My nephew was killed last night in a roll over. Pretty hard on my daughter as she was working at hospital when they brought him in. She had to stay late so Tam was up wondering why she wasn't home, finally we found out what was up and daughter got home about 5am then we couldn't sleep anyways.

That is terrible news, Big Muddy. Our hearts and prayers go out to your family.
