Springtime Poems

Spring is on everyones mind this time of year. I had a couple of inspirations hit me and wrote them down. A poem from a man's point of view and one from the Woman's, of course I don't know really know what she's a thinking. Just a guess, from experience.

Mans Spring

A golden ray of sunshine
Spreads slowly across the plains
Lighting up the prairie grass
A Product of the rains.

A wobbly newborn calf
Being nurtured by his mother
Happy chirping robins
This time is like no other.

The smell of spring is intense
Blossooms everywhere
Buds on trees are bursting
Cotton fills the air.

A bumble bee is buzzing
Busy at his task
The prairie is a noisy place
What more could a feller ask.

The creaking of the saddle
As I ride along
Caught up in the moment
I sing my favorite song.

My sleep is at a minimum
And my hours long and hard
But it’s only for a month or so
So let me tell you pard.

There’s nowhere in this big ol world
I would rather be
Then right here where I am right now
Springtime... on the prairie.

Some Housewifes Version
She spring

Mud all over the entryway
And halfway down the hall
Calves sleeping in the basement
I just can’t wait till fall!

Hubbys up half the night
Never around at day
Gotta get this calving done
Of course ... then it’s time to hay.

His clothes are always a total mess
Bloody, muddy and torn
Then he’s always prayin for rain?
We get a blizzard, and he’s forlorn.

I really need the garden tilled
And I’ve got a list for him to do
But all he does is play cowboy
And won’t spend time with you.

I cook and clean all day long
This is really getting old
When I make a nice hot meal
He shows up when it’s cold.

This isn’t the life I thought it’d be
When we tied the knot
But I guess I’d better be thankful
For all that I have got.

He don’t fool around with any girls
Unless they’ve 4 legs and a tail
When hes out most the night
I find him asleep in his chair.

It’s only for a few short weeks
And and then it’s done for a year
So I guess I’ll just suck it up
And have myself a beer.

Great poems!!! I liked the mud part. If anyone is like me, after spring I need to get a few new pairs of shoes. I've usually ruined most that I own with all the mud. I guess I should invest in boots!

Rubber ones LOL

Great poems.......I think even Jinglebob would be proud....I'm sure of it!!!
As for the female part of it......I spend alot of my time doin the outside stuff......I hate housework. Alotta truth in the poem, but I don't let the mud on the floor get to me.....it's just a lil mud...it'll sweep up when it gets dry.
Somethin I found out just yesterday that works great on nasty clothes....that carpet cleaner that has oxy clean in it added to the wash gets things clean clean clean. :D
Mr Lilly aint gonna let a meal get cold.....thank goodness he likes to help with the cookin. So that's a joint effort around here most of the time. Heck..he even does the dishes sometimes. I can't complain about that.

Thanks for the compliments, but I'm a looong ways from being considered any kind of poet. Ever heard of the saying" if you can't run with the big dogs---stay on the porch. I like the view from the porch just fine. Just sharing some thoughts from a different view. Later--EP

I, too, can relate to the wife's part of the poem....as a woman who has no CHOICE but to work outside the house, I find that time with the hubby is very rare during this time of year!! Don't know what I will do when my Gussie is gone this fall to college and I have ALL the housework to do on my own!!!!

Both poems were very pertinent, Empty Pockets, and they made a great pair tied together. It's pretty easy to get "calvin' fever" this time of year, but you put your thoughts to good use. Thanks for posting.
