S0-o-o-o, here I am - sitting here reading about Rattle Snakes, and seeing pictures of Rattle Snakes, and having creepy feelings running up and down my spine, and trying to comb my hair down on the back ofmy head - - AND - my dear, sweet, wonderful black and white Tuxedo Cat ru-u-u-b-b-b-s-s-s up against my leg, and I ended up on top of the Computer desk holding the Mouse in my hand like an AX!!

Sheeesh!

DOC HARRIS

Were thinkin' of ya out in Utah Doc! Your jumping from your cat made me grin! :D Have to get that cat a bell collar so it can't sneak up on ya! I had a cell phone with vibrate on it for meetings and such. I had it on vibrate then ring and it was in my shirt pocket. Coming home from work i stopped and killed a big ol' rattler who didnt want to die. I made a nice monument out'a rocks trying to kill him from a distance. When i finally got him deceased i found a cedar limb and was in the process of getting him off the road when my dang phone "rang". Not sure where the limb went but i almost beat the hell out of my left shirt pocket. Phone held up pretty well considering!

:agree:

We always cut the rattles off when we kill a snake...Mike finally had to quit putting them in his shirt pocket cause they'd rattle and spook him.

We never kill bull snakes either.

Who burries the head of rattlers? Most in this area do. Something about they can have nerves left and the head can bite you? :???: :?

I haven't killed Any snake for 25+ years! I've walked, rode, and drove past many! If there's one in the yard, I'll pick it up and move it a few miles away!

I'm more scared of things I can't see, like Hanta virus. (not related to Hanta Yo)

Yes I've seen rattlers continue to strike/bite after the head's cut off......
Never heard of just buryin the head. But when I kill a snake I make sure that the head is perdy much demolished beyond recognition LOL

We don't kill bull snakes either.

Glad to see you back on the board, Doc Harris.
Sorry to hear about your health issues. You just pop into the forum
every chance you get; the folks here will keep you entertained!!

Still laughing at the snake stories...

We grew up with snakes (Wyoming, of course there were snakes  )
but moved to W. Montana in 1975. Guess what??? NO SNAKES THERE!
That was nice. Moved to E. Montana and the first snake we encountered
was a real shock. We had forgotten about them. Amazing how you have
to get used to seeing them again.

I don't like snakes, but I HATE MICE!!!!!! :P

Bull snakes startle me and I'm not a fan at all but I've never killed one. Unless I might have ran over one on the highway at one time. :???: Water snakes and garden snakes get a death sentence when in the yard.
I've been lucky enough to never run into a rattlesnake and I hope to continue the streak.

I haven't killed one in the last 25 minutes!!!!

Had a HUGE copperhead in the yard...I whacked it's head off with a machete....dogs grabbed the body.

They were slinging it so hard I saw 'something' fly into the bushes....it was an egg sack!!!

Looks like she was getting ready to lay about 6-8 eggs!!!!

We have a sub species here that lays eggs instead of live young.

She's gone....GOOD!!!

This reminded me of somethin that happened quite a few years ago. The kids were small. I'd say maybe 4 and 9....we were comin home down our lil back country road, which was still dirt at the time. And I drove a Jeep Cherokee........our road is still really only wide enough for one vehicle......so you don't dodge stuff cuz you'll end up hittin a pine tree. Anyway...here we go down the road....and there's this huge turtle in the road. I really didn't intend to hit it....but I did......as I got past it, I glanced in the rear view mirror to see if I'd really hit it as bad as I thought I had. And yeap....I had. But there were these white balls all over the road too. So I stopped and backed up......the kids were amazed....we'd ran over the turtle...and blew eggs out all over the place. I bet there were 20 or more soft shelled eggs about the size of ping pong balls all over the road.

Even with bullsnakes I fear hurting myself in running. :)
