Steve, something to add to your B. Soetoro Timeline

Wasn't he supposed to have attended Columbia University for 2 years? 1981-1983?

But then again he did say he was in Pakistan in 1981.

How did someone get a degree in only 9 months? I wonder if there was any outside influence?

And who could have arranged for his mother and he, to have so many SS#s?

Must be a "typo", which seems to come up quite frequently when discussing Barry Soetoro's background.

Lolo Soetoro was a colonel in the Indonesian armed forces and worked for the CIA-installed dictator, General Suharto, from 1965, after returning to Indonesia from Hawaii, where he married Ann Dunham, to 1970, when he joined Exxon. President Obama’s mother arrived in Indonesia to join Soetoro with young Barack Obama, Jr. in October 1967,while the CIA’s anti-PKI and anti-Sukarno “mopping up” operations were still taking place.

Dunham Soetoro returned to Indonesia in 1975 to conduct “anthropological field work.” The year 1975 is key since it was the year East Timor gained independence from Portugal and when the CIA, working with Suharto, planned the Indonesian invasion and bloody occupation of East Timor, a move that had been given the green light by then-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Kissinger now serves as a foreign policy adviser to President Obama.

From October 1978 to December 1980, under contract to USAID and Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI), a CIA front company, Dunham consulted on rural industries development in central Java. The CIA’s station chief in Jakarta in June 1980 was Warren E. Frank and the deputy chief of station from July 1979 through 1980 was Harrison McAlpine, who, from 1971 to 1974, was a USAID “public administration adviser” in Vientiane, Laos. Also at the CIA station in Jakarta in 1980 was Robert H. Mills, operating under official cover of embassy First Secretary and who, form 1972 to 1974, was operating at the U.S. Consulate in Surabaya, eastern Java, as a USAID “public safety program” officer.

From January 1981 to November 1984, Dunham worked under the cover of the Ford Foundation’s Southeast Regional Office in Jakarta. Dunham’s grants came from the head of the foundation’s grant program in New York, Peter Geithner, the father of Timothy Geithner, the current Treasury Secretary.

In 1970, Dunham Soetoro’s mother, Madelyn Dunham, became one of the first female vice presidents of the Bank of Hawaii in Honolulu. WMR previously reported that Madelyn Dunham handled a number of escrow accounts through which the CIA paid off leaders and politicians in various Asian countries where the “BankoH” maintained branches, including Indonesia.

mostly I had focused on his mothers teen years and his early years, his life is complicated.. and full of contradictions.. it can't all be lies can it?

As he pursued a political science degree, specializing in international relations, Obama says he was somewhat involved with the Black Students Organization and participated in anti-apartheid activities. “Mostly, my years at Columbia were an intense period of study,” he says. “When I transferred, I decided to buckle down and get serious.

Obama says it is difficult to separate his college experience at Columbia from the urban experience of living in New York City, and his memoir offers little about his time on campus.

nine months... years..

from snopes.. we all know they are very accurate (sarcasm)
If he wasn't attending Columbia from 1981-83, he would have had to complete two full years' worth of coursework at (and graduate from) some other accredited college —

factcheck.. you know the ones who are responsible for certifying presidential births..
Barack Obama was a transfer student from California’s Occidental College when he came to Columbia University in 1981 as a 20-year-old junior.,... Columbia University proudly claims Obama as a 1983 graduate.

Barack Obama attended Occidental College from fall 1979 through spring 1981 Neither Obama’s image or name appear in any Occidental yearbooks or the weekly student newspaper for the years he attended.

so who is wrong?

I went on to higher education. my last semester was hell trying ot get all my classes scheduled, I didn''t need credits I needed 3 required classes..and two were always at the same time as another required class.. my son had a similar problem with his duel degree, it required two summer sessions and quite a few overload semesters to get him to graduate on time..

the president took a similar divergent degree path..

another note.. completing two years of course work in 9 months .. is not exactly correct.. most if not all colleges close for most of December..
finals take about two weeks and there is a short period between finals and graduation.. so it was not a full nine months of study.. closer to 7 or 8 months.. or two semesters.. with no possible summer sessions..

he failed/dropped out of Occidental after four semesters,

so lets assume he needed the basic 120 credits.. (despite his degree path being divergent and requiring many more then the minimum)

he didn't work hard at Occidental.. (his own words) 12 credits is lazy.. 15 normal and 17/18 leads to overload..

so even giving him the benefit of the doubt.. 15 credits per semester..

that leaves 60 for Columbia.. or 30 credits per semester..

even if occidental offered a winter session ( a few courses crammed into a two month overlapping period over December / January)

it would have required at least 20 credits per semester..

I honestly think a person could do 20 credits but getting 20 scheduled would be near impossible.. let alone getting all the required courses for the degree.

one must also consider I gave him the benefit of the doubt at Occidental, and stuck with the minimum credit requirement for a basic singular path degree..

could he have done it.. yes it is possible.. but I would be darn proud and waving my transcript around.. not sealing it..
