$2 million in stimulus funds landing at Eppley
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Almost $2 million from the federal stimulus package will be spent on security equipment at Nebraska’s largest airport.

The office of U..S. Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said Friday that the money will allow Omaha’s Eppley Airfield to buy new explosive detection systems and advanced technology X-ray units.

Some 200 U.S. airports use the explosive-detection systems to scan and analyze luggage.

The new X-ray units will peer into carry-on bags. The units are more efficient than single-view X-ray units.

we have an old airport that hasn't seen real use in years.. Ocean city.. will get a new runway...

really sad part.. we have three airports in our county, Cape May, Woodbine, and Ocean City.. all in pretty good condition..

a few years back I did touch and gos at all three airports in under a half hour.... real smooth runways.. nice facilities, but why do we need three?

pure waste of money putting in a new runway on the airport to support a few wealthy folk to fly to their beach house.. and sit on their federally replenished beach..

Let's see if I can explain it?

First, the TSA workers who screen passengers for explosives will have less work to do, and have more time to take coffee breaks.....which will enable them to become fatter......thus become more unhealthy......which will in turn give more Dr.'s and nurse's jobs keeping them alive for a longer period of time while they spend their UNION mandated retirement pension plan at all the Mom & Pop restaurants where the TSA workers go for coffee breaks?

I hope they don't turn around and try to cut union wages in Nebraska. that would be the end of such a good opportunity to build a new runway.

It's not nice to offend the SEIU/ACORN, they like to tattle on you!

The Obama administration threatens to rescind billions in stimulus money if Gov. Schwarzenegger and lawmakers do not restore wage cuts to unionized home healthcare workers.

The SEIU said in a statement that it had asked the Obama administration for the ruling.
