$2 million in stimulus funds landing at Eppley
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Almost $2 million from the federal stimulus package will be spent on security equipment at Nebraska’s largest airport.
The office of U..S. Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said Friday that the money will allow Omaha’s Eppley Airfield to buy new explosive detection systems and advanced technology X-ray units.
Some 200 U.S. airports use the explosive-detection systems to scan and analyze luggage.
The new X-ray units will peer into carry-on bags. The units are more efficient than single-view X-ray units.
