Just saw a news report on a local station about people getting their credit lines on credit cards cut w/o notification.

Just for shites and giggles I went on line and cked out mine. Now, I have NO credit card debt whatsoever, but I wanted to see what was up.

They have raised my credit limits, some as much as $2k, on each card. I only have 3 cards MC VISA & Amex, the 3 big ones(the Amex doesnot have a limit), as I don't do the ' in store' cards from all the different big chain stores.

I just thought that was odd if credit/money is hard for them to get and thus ' lend' out to consumers.

Alot of people need their credit lines cut . They need to learn to live on what they make and not what they can borrow...

Did it say WHEN they raised it? Could have been months ago....Why do you carry AMEX and pay an annual renewal fee. What is now..$75?? Pretty stiff for someone who pays in full each month.

And yep...lots of folks are living on credit cards. Paying minimum payment and probably will die before they get them paid off. They definitely need to learn to live within their means.

The limit was raised on Monday " at the close of business" as that was the first thing I looked up.

Fine with me as I'll never use it. I dont' thing I've EVER EVER EVER had a credit card bill over $300 , for purely personal use,in my life.

Mine are mainly used for travel expense is all and such as that.

Credit cards used properly are a good thing. You can beat a bank's rate with credit cards most any day. You just have to use them in a disciplined manner. That's where the trouble comes as they give you a sense of power-I want it, I'm gonna get it, this card says I can.

Why use the bank or the credit card...try use cash or a debit card. And paying $75 for the priviledge of carring an American Express Green is stupid as well. They should pay you to carry it.

I have one that is for on-line purchases only. I pay it in full when I get a bill.

We were using the GM for eveything. We would pay it in full every month and received a huge discount on the wife's new fangled cross over. The problem was something happened one month with the mail. The payment got there a few days late and they jumped out rate way up. I cancelled the card when they lowered the interest rate to 21%. I don't actually pay interest since we pay in full, but it was just the principle of it.

I have some platinum with low rates and high caps that I never use. I may start using one for reservations or something since I no longer use the GM. Lately I have just used the debit for everything except on-line purchases.

Somebody as stupid as you can't qualify for the Gold and Platinim has a minimum purchase amount. Really doesn't matter....only a fool would pay a company to carry their credit card.

Well I have used credit cards 0% for a year with absolutely no fees. That is simply interest free for a year and the amount was about $12000 if my memory serves. At the end of the year, I paid it off and in the meantime I was making money with my 12000.

Never heard of anyone giving money away like that...doesn't mean it didn't happen. You should have written the check for more. :)
