Due to circumstances beyond control, yesterday's branding had to be postponed until today. The weather was lovely, and wind wasn't a factor. It was an enjoyable day.

Looks like ya got a lot done. Did ya make it to church?

I was all showered and shaved and ready to jump in the pickup to go to church with Peach and Sunflower, but there was a four-year-old cow that had been fooling around calving since noon and she had not progressed much. Peach said we could flip a coin to see who stayed home to take care of the cow, but I figured the gals had worked hard enough all day, so thought it to be the Christian thing for me to stay home to tend to the cow. I ended up pulling a great big red heifer calf out of the black cow. I think that we've only had to pull two calves from older cows because of the size of the calf this spring. We only had to pull a handful of calves from first-calf heifers. Of course there always are a few backwards calves and other complications that come with the calving game.

Man! What a guy. I have "voluteered" to take hollering kids home from church a time or two. :D

I've even been known to pinch a kid on purpose, so I could take them out. :)
