That is aftergrowth on hay meadows, after the grass has been mowed, raked, baled, and the hay hauled off. Most of the naturally sub-irrigated meadows in this area are only hayed once per year, but the aftergrass is valuable fall grazing.

Were those escapees from the calves you already sold? Most of them look as they should have fit with the first bunch.


Do we need to notify the law about the eighteenth calf? :p
