A high wind warning was forecast for the day, so Peach and I decided to go to the Junior High Rodeo held at the Valentine Fairgrounds.
The wind didn't hit too hard until late morning, and by then the rodeo was nearly over.
We went mainly to cheer on my nephew, who is an eighth grader and a top hand.
He has a sister that is a great cowgirl, but she is now in high school and stayed home for other obligations.
My sister and their new puppy
Kind of a cute little thing--half Corgi and half Australian Shepherd
Her son in the white hat and white shirt on the right
Roping a calf in the breakaway roping. He ended up placing fourth in this event.
About to catch his calf in the ribbon roping
He and his partner got second place in this.
Turning the calf loose
Nephew and his partner about ready to team rope
Away they go
The first loop misses.
Since each team is allowed three loops, my nephew does the head catch. Unfortunately the third loop heel catch does not connect so it's a no-time.
A gentleman I've known for many years was the flagger and judge.

We enjoyed the morning very much, and then attended the annual dinner and bazaar at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nenzel.
They sure put on a great meal with beef and pork and all the trimmings.
