Pew study finds Rush Limbaugh least trustworthy news source

By Aaron Sharockman on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014 at 12:08 p.m.

A new survey from Pew Research finds that Rush Limbaugh is America’s least-trusted news source. And who does America trust most?

CNN.

Thirty-nine percent of respondents to the Pew poll say they don’t trust Limbaugh, a bombastic conservative radio voice. Fox News follows closely with 37 percent saying they don’t trust the network. Glenn Beck ranks third, with 24 percent of respondents saying they distrust Beck.

The Pew survey was conducted March 19-April 29.

The five major news networks top the trust spectrum, with 54 percent of respondents saying they trust CNN, 50 percent saying they trust ABC and NBC, 46 percent saying they trust CBS and 44 percent saying they trust Fox News.

Forty-four percent of respondents say they get their news from CNN.

PunditFact is tracking the accuracy of claims made on the five major networks using our network scorecards. By that measure, 61 percent of the claims fact-checked on Fox News have been rated Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire, the most among any of the major networks.

As for the rest:

• 45 percent of the claims made on NBC and MSNBC rate Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire;
• 38 percent of the claims made on CBS rate Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire;
• 36 percent of the claims made on ABC rate Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire;
• 22 percent of the claims made on CNN rate Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire.

For the record, 82 percent of the claims we've checked from Limbaugh have been rated Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire.

I agree with you- I don't consider him a news source either... He's a shock jock entertainer and propagandist who will say anything to stuff more $$$$ in his and his sponsors pockets...

But there are weaker minded folks out there that buy into every word he preaches- and think what he tells them is factual and the news...

Well, that's their problem, isn't it. It's a free country and Rush can say what he wants.

Bet you didn't complain when Dan Rather did the same thing for year after year.

To me Rush as an entertainer/propagandist relates to a certain element of the radical right- just as Jesse Jackson and Sharpton relate to a certain element of the radical left...

These type folks don't care about the truth- they only care about feeding more raw meat to their weak minded followers so they can keep their fold throwing $$$$ toward themselves and their sponsors..

And you know what OT, politics is generally boring. Guys like Rush are fun to listen to and I'll bet he gets more people 'engaged' in the process than all the other political entertainers combined.

And I know you like that because you've told us you want to see more people involved in the political process. :lol:

Pew Research found a stunning overweight of Left-leaning media, with 25 of the 32 most used news sources considered by users to the left of center, and only seven to the right of center.

“The differences between the media habits of liberals and conservatives — and between those in the ideological ends and the middle — is striking,” said Amy Mitchell, director of journalism research.

The report was released at midnight Monday. It was part of Pew’s ongoing effort to chart the political division in America, seen most during election seasons.

The survey, titled “Political Polarization & Media Habits,” found that conservatives are more unified around Fox, with 47 percent calling it their main source of news about government and policy. They express greater distrust of media, though 88 percent trust Fox. And either with friends or on Facebook, they prefer those with similar political views.

Liberals are less focused on one news source and trust the media more than distrust it. They are more likely than conservatives to “defriend” or block “someone on a social network — as well as to end a personal relationship — because of politics,” said Pew.

“Roughly four-in-10 consistent liberals on Facebook (44 percent) say they have blocked or defriended someone on social media because they disagreed with something that person posted about politics. This compares with 31 percent of consistent conservatives and just 26 percent of all Facebook users who have done the same,” said Pew.

Liberals are intolerant farkers.

Yep- just like Jesse and Al get their element "engaged" in the process... So you must enjoy listening to Al and Jesse's entertainment :???:

Extremist shock political media persons from either side are all extremely dangerous and could care less what happens to the country as long as they can make money off it..
